A vegan retreat is a complete No Go for me.

  • I hate bloody vegans, food Fascists, never stop asking is this Vegan, i'm a Vegan I don't eat etc etc etc. Sat on a plane once next to a black lesbian one- she wanted to know if the nuts were Vegan!

  • Sounds on them like everything is fantastic. Just trust them. No Thai hotel or resort would ever even think about lying to their customers.

Agree, very often people hovering 10 cm above the ground with their artificial smile. So wrong.

You get 40% off from the 1600, or is 1600 the actual price?

Looks like an average 1600THB place in normal times, so if this is the price now i would say it's too expensive. If you get 40% off it's a good deal.

Never stayed there but there are alot of hotels in that area, just across from Thapae gate. Not much happening around there at present. Near a starbucks, a short hike up to Miguels, and there are bars open but very few customers.

I am pretty sure its a newly built place. The soi that it is on is unrecognisable from a few years ago. Decent enough location though.

I have never stayed at this place but its always looked very interesting. Its not a city location and may not be doing the 40% govt scheme? Seems like a vegan dream place?

cnxbkkman,  "Its not a city location....".

You had me confused for a second, but now I see what you mean:  It's not an "inside the moat" location.

But only a very short distance from the moat.  Probably 5 min walk as they said.

look at feedback on trip advisor, 300 reviews.

So you read them.

It's a great location if you want to be close to the old town. It's not good if you like peace and quiet, as it's close to one of the busiest streets in Chiang Mai.

Looks good on paper though, not been myself.

Wonder what the management would say if you brought back gai yang to eat in hotel grounds????

Its located in a secluded spot, well away from any road

The area has been upgrading for a few years now. There is another hotel in rocks throwing distance that is being built. Not sure if you would hear the noise or how finished it is at this point. Pretty near all the bars on Loi Kroh or the moat and McDonalds for a veggie burger or french fries

If only Dave(forget his number) was still here with us, we would have had photos of everything mentioned by now

No it's not. It's 2 mins walk from one of the busiest roads in Chiang Mai.

Will be noisy.

Currently Loi Kroh is a quite quiet and empty street.

Tha Phae Gate is also quite deserted.

And Kotchasarn Rd, one of the busiest thoroughfares in Chiang Mai?

Maybe not if Chiang Mai recently switchd to all electric cars.

Maybe with your superior German hearing , you will be able to hear the cars from that distance ?

The rest of us wouldnt be able to hear it

We stayed there around December 2018 when it was recently opened. Nice and quiet place. Wasn't vegan food then. Maybe vegetarian, but not quite sure as we mainly ate out.

Under five minute walk to Tha Pae Gate. Long narrow swimming pool accessed from terrace of ground floor rooms I recall.

I have eaten dinner there a couple of times. I am not a vegetarian, but I enjoy good vegetarian food. The hotel looks very nice. The food was a bit disappointing though.

It's both, instead of the repetitive petulant ear bashing, haul your ----s down there next week and check it out. 20 meters south of McDonalds, hang a left on 'shaman books' soi,  go straight. Nice looking. It centers on a long narrow interior courtyard  pool which likely helps with noise reduction. Still it is quiet back there. Just another (semi) boutique hotel, built in the boutique gold hotel rush of 17/19.

Those were the days. Tapping that Celestial gold mine.
