This unfit to fly certificate you can get at any clinic? Reminds me when I needed a health certificate for my driver's license. I went to a small clinic and told them that I need such a certificate. The lady at the reception said 100 Baht and after 10 Minutes I received it. I never saw the doctor. Is this the same with this certificate?

Yes, but the rule doesn't say you actually have to see a doctor, only that you provide a certificate. Thai logic ????

A very sensible  and logical decision by Thai Immigration .

(I would also like to go on record and state this is exactly what I predicted that they would do )

Is that stamp in passport still required ? the one to show length of stay on Amnesty ?

500 baht where I live but yes all you do is hand your passport in at reception and pick it up with letter 2 hours later

This with the 100 Baht was more than 20 years ago. I have no idea how much they charge here in Pattaya now.

Are we going back to the letter of embassy days where you can swore on false affidavits?

I think they shouldn't let the embassy decide but based on which countries have flights allowed back.

If they have flights allowed back home and they are not in poor medical health, there's no reason to allow them to stay on tourist visa.

A VERY misleading headline - the ‘extension’ is for those with a Medical Certificate proving they are unfit to fly or those with a letter from their Embassy explaining why they cannot fly.

The existing Visa Amnesty remains the same and ends on September 26th.

Agreed, also it includes people who can not be repatriated.

If i am forced to leave Thailand because they closed the borders making it impossible to exit/re-enter and get a 90 day stamp then i will definitely never return , to my wife and home + family and F them all .

If you are married and have family here is Thailand why not apply for a Family visa? What visa re you on now?  I recently renewed my  visa No problems. If you are on a Non Imm visa then you would be expected to renew that visa in the normal way before Sept 26.

A doctors note will cost the farang everytime. They will get the sick note unable to travel every time,as long as you pay the cost

And the the foreigner seeking out the medical certicate by a doctor, of course he has to pay and if a real examination was done, they would certainly pay more.

The report also states

However, those who are unable to return home due to lack of flights or other circumstances in their home country must present a letter from their home country’s embassy or consulate in Thailand requesting that the foreign be allowed to continue to temporarily stay in the Kingdom, Gen Pornchai added."

So, as long as your Embassy issues you a letter, anyone should be able to stay for an extendable 30 days

Embassies don’t do letters anymore .. They already messed that one up on the expat cull

Embassy's will probably now start issuing them again, now that they are required again

Well looks like all the "Thailand hates farangs" and "Immigration just want all dirty farang to leave" brigade have a lot of egg on their posts.

I agree with you and it's the sort of demented farangs  who make these kind of posts that we would all like them to leave.

because extending another 6 months was asked too mutt

immigration needs those 1900 baht monthly fees

why don't they come up with another ripp-off ?  1900 x 12 months, paid at once for a 1 year visa

would prefer that to give to crooked AGENTS , which are charging now up to 70.000 baht I read in some posts

Highly likely to be the usual 1900 Baht per 30 days

That is exactly right. Again build up the national budget based on farang money. What a joke

Well  at least you want go to prison Virus  to  risking there

As  for  money  many tourist  not on pensions  must be very short of money  by  now  so  it has to  be done  as other countries  do

Free     However  I think a lot of the usual  red tape  and paperwork  will be  along with this  plan normal  for Thailand  never  easy

Good Luck Thailand

You can do an in-country one year extension (with financial requirements). When to do it depends not on when the visa expires but when your permission to stay expires, this will be shown on your last entry stamp.

Ok so would it be possible to change to a tourist visa and take advantage of the 30 day extensions ?

the 30 day extension is only for tourists who are either

(1) medically incapacitated and unable to travel (with appropriate medical documentation)

or

(2) stranded due to lack of available flights, with a letter to that effect from their Embassy.

In addition I don't think you can change from a non-O to a tourist visa, but best to ask UbonJioe.
