Workers injured as under-construction tunnel collapses

Twelve workers were injured when a tunnel collapsed at Bandai Ma village in Nakhon Ratchasima province on Friday night (September 4).

 

 

Suraphan Silpsuwan, Pak Chong district sheriff rushed to the scene after Pak Chong subdistrict headman informed him about the incident at around 8pm.

 

 

The scaffolding reportedly collapsed under the weight of the concrete placed on it, leaving 12 workers injured.

 

Sawang Witchathammasatan Pak Chong Foundation team has taken the injured to receive treatment at Pakchongnana Hospital.

You are probably  right. But the system of using  scaffolding such as  shown has/is probably traditional. One damaged or carelessly erected section would  initiate a domino effect. Lucky that it did  not result in concrete caskets !

Now to see how to remove that  mess !

Rest easy. The pictures show the Governor is looking into it.

Nope

Lacking sufficient formwork support underneath or a sheet of formwork used failed/cracked and collapsed, not sure if they use timber pineboard formwork sheets or metal sheets, anyway looks to have adequate re-bar installed which is good to see.  It may be that one or two supports moved too much during vibrating.  just saying.

I feel the need  to extend on  my  comment.

Such  construction accidents  are  not unusual  in many  parts of the  world  despite  "regulatory"  expectations.

There is  a degree of  critical comment but  although  there  were  no  fatalities there is this  dismissal of the  "injured" as of  significance.

Similarly there is a dismissal of the  fact that  road  fatalities ignores the  very real horror  of the permanent  injuries that  <deleted> up so many peoples  lives as  survivors.

Death is a finite  outcome regardless.

Physical and neurological damage especially as innocent  victims of the too often diminutized responsibility of  another is a horrific  factor .
