When to expect a new announcement?

My experience with Chumphon is very limited.  I have been here for 19 years and this year is the only year I have ever applied for an extension of stay in country.  I have no other office in country to compare them with but I would describe them as unhelpful.

I spoke to them at the end of August and they said at that time that it didn't matter whether I got a letter from the embassy or medical evidence the answer would be no extension.

I now have the embassy letter and because of my interactions with Chumphon to date I am considering applying elsewhere if that is possible.  The key thing I do not know is whether MTT, for example, would require evidence of address.

I have been here for 25 years, but in many provinces over the years. Chumphon IO appear to be the most unhelpful so far. From what I understand you have to apply at the office your addess in Thailand is registered at. If you are applying in Bangkok you should have a Bangkok addess. I am going to move back to my wifes province this weekend and register myself and try to get an extension there. I am tired of travelling 40km each time to the Chumporn office to get told no.  They are very unhelpful in Chumphon IO for some reason. They seemed more interested in trying to sell me some property than helping me with my visa extension. They have a very strange attitude. I hope you have better luck than I did. You may be better off trying to move to another province and trying there. I know it is short notice, but it is what I am going to have to try.

Amnesty announcement is coming next week mark my words (Monday)

It's Tuesday or nothing.

The more I think about this the more I think its not coming. First off no leaks about it like past times. Then their is a way for people to stay with embassy letters that immigration is accepting all over the place. Also the letter thing makes people go to immigration twice a month which covers some in the governments "security fears" they have mentioned with foreigners being here. This past meeting they got things set up for what Thailand sees as the big money tourist to come here.

I see alot of people trying to using logical statements like "we put money in the economy" or "other Asian countries extended amnesty". The money thing is logical but between letters from embassy with 1900 baht and the rest being forced to pay agents I wouldnt be surprised if the government feels those who can afford to stay or should stay will be able to. As far as what other Asian countries do Thailand is nothing like other countries on how it does things its not hard to figure it out.

I think you can confidently grab your letter pay 1900 baht, find a agent, plan your overstay(I wouldnt  cops will be looking for it)or book your plane ticket at this point.

I'm amazed at your longivity and persistence. I assume you do 90 day border runs and make a new visa each year. Now you want to do an extension, but I assume not a one year extension to a Non O.

I think you are finally in trouble and need to qualify by regular means for a Non O extension. Since you have a long history in Thailand only money in the bank or using an agent would seem possible. On the other hand if you are from a country other than UK, Australia or US you could get a income verification letter from your embassy.

Good luck. I'm sure the TI officer is going to have a "what the hell is going on" moment when they look through your passport.

they just launched a new long stay visa where the only financial requirement is a 2K baht application fee. no minimum income, no money in the bank, no spending requirements, just 2K and a letter from wherever you are intending to stay.

stop talking rubbish man - its not a big conspiracy

George Cross Does it apply to people who are currently in Thailand who are here on amnesty?

Here's my promise to immigration. If you make it possible for me to go from an embassy letter extension (for consideration date Oct 11, a Sunday?) to a retirement visa, I will run to the nearest agent and get it done. I ran out of time because I am still under contract to a company in Cambodia, who have now stopped operations. Put in some kind of grace period, and I will do what I'm "supposed to do."
