PHUKET: Doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital have taken nearly a month to conclude that Pornpiphat “Mint” Iaddam, a 20-year-old first-year student at Phuket Rajabhat University who last month collapsed on campus and died after cheerleading practice, died of heart failure.

The news was finally released by Phuket City Police Chief Col Theerawat Liamsuwan today (Sept 17), reported state news agency MCOT.

With the hospital report now submitted, Nong Mint’s family may finally hold her funeral.

We all ultimately die of heart failure....

Yes, just what I was thinking. Isn't the purpose of an autopsy to determine why the heart stopped working. Maybe the autopsy report has more information in it than just this? Or was it too difficult for Khun Liamsuwan to read as he is just a policeman not trained in medical matters?

Have anyone of you cared to understand what died of heart failure means in medicine? It means that it was a fault with the heart that led it to stop working. Not any other organ that created a heart failure. Ain´t that hard to understand actually.

It's a term also commonly used in respect of unexplained sudden deaths (in the UK anyway) where they can't find any other reason.

So where is the diagnosis of an underlying heart condition?

A normal healthy 20 year-old does not have a heart condition that would cause her to drop on the spot during normal exercise.

Yes the heart stopped which was the cause of death, but what caused the heart to stop.... that has not been explained.

caused by ... what?

Exactly - the question is always what caused the heart failure

If you read the full report it says, “There was no explanation of what had caused the heart failure, which is apparently still under investigation”.

The purpose of an autopsy is to determine the cause of death, to rule out foul play, not necessarily to determine the cause of the cause of death despite Thaivisa 'pathologists' insisting that they need to know more specifics.

The diagnostic for cardiac arrest is established when no pulse is found. Excuse us for finding this lackluster.
