Are Buses in Bangkok Easy to Catch?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it's easy to catch buses to Bangkok? (I'm in Chiang Mai)

I'll book a flight and travel down to Bangkok if the cabinet don't talk about amnesty tomorrow.

Buses are never that difficult. The train with a sleeper can be difficult to book at short notice. Flights are usually expensive when booked at the last moment.

Yeah, just wasn't sure because of coronavirus.

In the past there were millions of options between CM and BKK daily.

I don't even know if social distancing is still in play.

Hope you get sorted and don't get forced to fly out. Good luck!

I have been on inter provincial buses in the last few days, and there is no social distancing being enforced. Masks are mandatory.

An airport bus leaves regularly but most people take the Rapid Transit System/ MRT which has non stop over ground and under ground trains so why would anyone use a bus? The trains come and go every 10 minutes.

I wish you told me years ago about the MRT link to Chiang Mai and would have saved me loads of trouble.

Are you asking about riding local buses once you've already arrived to BKK? Or, about buses that will take you from CM to BKK...  Two entirely different things.

Are they letting dirty covid ridden foreigners back on the buses now then?

There was even a DLT checkpoint near Ratchaburi, the other night.  A peasant family scrambled to put on their masks.  They boarded, and did a visual check..that was it.  Totally different than typical police/border patrol checkpoints around Chiang Rai.

I haven't heard anything to the contrary. Last I heard some bus companies had banned foreigners as had some of the bigger temples in Bangkok.  According to my Mrs the government have portayed foreigners as the devil when it comes to Covid and a good % the public are firmly 'anti farang'. So it may be an old line but to the best of my knowledge, its still current.
