Pattaya immigration very busy

Came at 8 am, more than 100 people waiting.

Once they check your papers and they are good they give you additional forms and queue number.

Queue moves very slowly. 1 number change between 15 to 30 minutes. Number 30 still waiting almost 2 hours and still 10 plus people in front.

This is for 30 day covid extension.

What's a Covid extension?

get a letter from your embassy and they'll extend you another 30 days for 1900.  need letter from embassy though.  US was simple request this time.

a letter saying what, you're unable to return home?

i was under the impression that if you were able to return to your country of birth then you should do so?

It's a standard letter.  Go to the us embassy website and there is a link to attain it if you require one.  They were still providing them 2 weeks ago.

Can't be true. Everyone says there are no tourists left in Thailand.

Exactly, wait until the last few days and you pay the price of long lines. One article even stated (I don't believe it) that 150,000 tourists were stuck. If spread out between a few tourist area, could you imagine 10-20,000 in line.

He said that 100 people were waiting not thousands.

or pay an agent to stand in line if you don't want to.  I just found out how easy they can make life here.

Thai Immigration says 150,000 people. Someone even posted from an article about it- Poster's name was Checkered Flag.

No, nothing bothering me.

Cute that you ask tho - thx

Was there yesterday around 10am. Busy but nothing to compare with what was there back in March.

If it's per normal, they have separate queues for each service...the wait to extend a "retirement visa" probably isn't very long. I assume those expats with them expiring during this covid period just extended them when they expired so they wouldn't be rushing to renew them now. The "tourists" doing extensions yes.

Main reason is the gamble on another "amnesty " hoping on it & so waiting closest to end date ......

Lucky you went today lots of idiots think that the Government will give a last minute reprieve today so the next few days will be murder unless you use an agent.

Just yesterday I read a post about getting a schedule for Friday and after getting then wanting to change to Thursday for some other business to do.

I shook my head and did not comment.

Heavy cases of procrastination as the medical term is (pathological).

I read reports from Phuket, heavy crowded and they will work on Saturday until midnight if necessary.

I guess other offices might also be open on Saturday?

There's also an incentive for those looking for a 30 day extension to get it as close as possible to eof amnesty.

Imagine what immigration will look like on Thu/Fri.

Hey, I'm the caring and sharing type.

I suggest that anyone who is looking for the 30 day extension this week to jump on a short bus trip to a neighbouring province that doesn't have a lot of tourists.... check into a cheap hotel.... and visit immigration the following day.

This is the stupidity of thai. Instead of making appointment before falang come, they prefer people waiting like dog. They can make covig app but cannot make app for visa extension appointment. You know why they do this ?? Because only this way the extra fast service work and they earn mpre extra pocket money. This is the brain of thai asia.

Getting an agent cost will go sky high. Some people aren't very smart, it would seem.

People waiting until the last week... yeah who'd have thought.

As someone has posted some extensions are one time only. It would be sad to get the extension and then find There was an amnesty. Happened to a lot of people with the other amnesties. Now they have run out of options.

In this case stupidity is both ways when things are done the last minute especially in Thailand like a box of chocolate you just don't know what you are going to get so when you wait to the last week hoping hoping you get there 100 people no patience it could seem like a thousand?????

An the BP reported that 150,000 foreigners on tourist visa are still stuck. That will make a really long line.

Main reason is a very bad communication on the part of the Thai government (The Cabinet). After three amnesties in a row they did not care to inform the public that they don't plan to extend it anymore. This alone was enough to create a lot of panic and misunderstanding.

P.S. Don't refer me to the Immigration statements which were overruled by the Cabinet in the past and not once.
