Beer Stays Cooler in Bottles or Cans

Featured Replies

So, I've always been a bottle guy. Just thought beer tasted better out of a bottle. For home I always bought large bottles. But recently I've been buying cans for the beach, they fit better in my cooler. Now I'm a fan of cans. Seems to me beer stays cooler in the can.

Before going to the beach I prep the cans in the freezer for 30 min then put in small cooler with ice. I drink Heinekin, not sure if that should matter. Anyways I'm a can fan for now.

If you keep drinking beer from the bottle or can, the redundant staff stood at the side of your table will be trying to force the icecubes down your throat during sips !

After you have finished drinking the beer out of the can, pour the beer from a bottle into the can, report back if you noticed a difference.  ????

Aluminum is an excellent conductor, so while beer will cool faster in a can, it will also heat up faster. Plus, with a can, you are holding it where the liquid is. Glass is not a great insulator, but far better than aluminum. Most people also hold a bottle by the neck, so their warm hand isn't at the liquid level.

Try using a beer condom to keep it cooler longer. That will help, whether its a bottle or a can.

Why not use a can cozy or for that matter one on the bottle, they make them with cold liners so your beer stays cold and no ice needed.

Sometimes beer in bottles tastes like ar_e. The reason might be that it's too old and was sitting in the sun too long.

IMO, I like fresh beer and it tastes good in cans and in bottles.

Physics class....conductivity of different materials....geometric Brownian motion.....Black Body Radiation.....Max Planck....

Forgetaboutit....just pop open the beer and enjoy.

There is a woman in Vietnam who can do a great deal on used condoms at the moment  :ermm:

I have to marvel at the commercial nous of the UK beer industry. By training Brits to drink warm beer, they saved themselves millions in refrigeration costs.

Bottles will stay cooler longer, heat transfer through thick glass is slower than through thin metal.

I am wondering how you know what ar_e tastes like.

Oh you must do the cans shotgun style, very nice.  Miss the college days of a 6 pack in the old beer bong (Large funnel with rubber tubing.  You filled up the Funnel and then shot the whole 6 pack down the tube and into your gullet...fun was had by all.  It was the beer pong that rocked.

But how do you get the ice cubes in the can and where do you get the straws?

Back on topic, I prefer small bottles to cans and although my fridge is bloody cold, I stick the bottle in the freezer for maybe 10-15 minutes before I open it to give it a really cold edge that lasts longer once opened.

Oh dear I must be what they call a hi-so I guess, drinking beer from a can or bottle is not the way to drink beer, it should be poured into a glass anything else is uncouth.

My friends back home would always say that beer tastes better in bottles and beer in cans has a “ funny “ taste.

I always staunchly denied that accusation although at the time I was working in the can making business ( 31 years )  !!

But now I have retired I agree with them, beer does taste better out of bottles !! IMHO .

I done the yard of ale competition once...  paid £1 and that come with the beverage....

I just took my time ????

Heat transfers slower through glass than can.

If both are cooled in ice then it will take longer to cool in bottles, but in time they will reach the same temperature.

If you then take both cooled bottled and canned beer out of the fridge, the canned beer will heat up quicker.
