Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha

The Cabinet has agreed that a reconciliation committee should be set up to find a way of resolving the ongoing political crisis, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said after attending a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

He said the committee will be appointed by the House and will include representatives of different parties, the Senate, members of Parliament and pro-democracy activists.

The Parliament’s two-day extraordinary session held to seek a resolution to the ongoing political unrest was wrapped up on Tuesday.

Pro-democracy activists have been holding protests demanding the prime minister’s resignation, amendments to the charter and reforms to the monarchy.

And, who would be on the committee?

Probably just the old faces shuffled around the table, nothing more, so a waste of time plus maybe push the protestors to get even more vocal.

I hope the protestors/students gather even more numbers, keep old parties out of their activities and keep well away from violence.

Why set up a committee?

Answer to the problem is simple, Prayut and his bunch of geriatric generals should just go, problem solved.

There needs to be a resolution committee to the reconciliation committee. Reminds me of Parkinson's Law.

No need to waste a perfectly good committee on this….

…the Hero-General ordered happiness and reconciliation years ago…and the people obediently became happy and reconciled.

There must be a misunderstanding.

The last group of reconciliation pros were such a success that a repeat performance is needed.    More reform talk from a coup leader now clinging to power.  The last coup leader at least wanted a civilian government, but less than nimble minded cha cha thought he knew better.   This is why there are young people demanding change.

Be careful what you wish for Colin.I hate to say it but there are far more deadly generals out there waiting in the wings and just rarin' to go.

They have not the slightest interest in "democracy" and never have had any.

I wish the democracy movement well but do not think that it will be a walk in the park toppling these sorts of regimes.

Why doesn't he and his stooges just get the hint that they all are severely hated and Get Out? Now turning the screws harder on the old FFP party people but also trying to still look like good guys is just absurd and ridiculous. If it smells like a turd, looks like a turd and floats like a turd. Then .......

All looks fair and balanced. Can't imagine this being anything but a raging success

What part of "get out!" doesn't he understand?

The protesters want change, freedom and the prospect of a bright future - none of which will be found in a committee.

Whoa, slow yer roll Uncle Tuu.

First comes the committee to study the formation of a committee.

I'm sure people anxious for change will just love the ideas of "potential" charter amendments and a reconcialliation committee.

What about a 'Panel' to oversee the 'Committee' and 'Probe' matters !

These are purely obstruction and delaying tactics and will achieve nothing, and only provoke and antagonise the protesters.. ????

A committee means more talk, talk goes no-where, action is what is needed.

Has there ever been a committee worth a damn in the history of Thailand? Or Siam or the world for that matter?

Useless waffle.
