Popular Post webfact
Prayut greeted by hopeful locals in tourism-starved Phuket By The Nation Photos by Charoon Thongnual Residents of Phuket's Old Town turned out to greet Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday as the premier inspected the area’s businesses. The inspection was part of the Cabinet's summit on social and economic development in the tourism-reliant southern provinces of Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun. The Cabinet announced more soft loans to support tourism businesses hit by the absence of international travellers since the Covid-19 travel ban was imposed at the end of March. The premier stayed at Splash Beach Resort Mai Khao in Thalang district, where locals and government officials turned out to greet him. Popular Post DrDave
So, on a trip to inspect tourism-related businesses, he neglected to visit the province's main tourist destinations (Patong, Karon, Kamala and Kata). Areas that are nearly 100% dependent upon tourism. 4

I suggest that many in the crowd would be civil servants just doing their job. Security people and minders and other ancillary staff that any Prime Minister would need on such an occasion. So in a sense they were paid if they were working as part of their duties. Nothing libellous about that I would have thought. Maybe they were given some free flowers the same as the PM. Pedrogaz
Is this photo-op part of the strategy for getting tourists back? What is the strategy anyway? It seems we have an endless stream of schemes and cunning plans but few tourists.....excepting those with with private jets. Perhaps now Johnny Depp's lawsuit is over, he'll come and visit.
