THAI Airways plans special merit-making flight

Thai Airways International is planning a special flight for people to make merit at numerous temples on November 30th, without actually visiting the temples, in an attempt to boost tourism.

Mr. Vivat Piyaviroj, Vice President for the airline’s commercial operations, said that the special flight will fly over 99 sacred venues in 31 provinces in about three hours, during which a religious ceremony and chanting of prayers will be conducted on board by Mr. Kacha Chinbancha, a historian who is an expert in religions and cultures.

The special flight is scheduled to depart Suvarnabhumi international airport at 1.30pm, returning at 4.30pm. Tickets are priced at 5,999 baht each for economy class and 9,999 baht for business class.

Maybe you could swap it for a seat on this tempel tour flight? Might just be your last chance to get some kind of refund....

  • Desperate times, desperate measures..

Seriously, is that the best they can come up with to save the airline? On the same level as their stupid attempts to restart their tourist business.

Sounds fantastic, what dates are the flights ?

You can book on the Thai website. I am sure it is listed as the 3 hour Buddhist Chanting flight.

The folk at Thai Airways need to stop mixing and sharing  their meds in the morning.

The only one to gain from this will be the fuel supplier, assuming they get paid

By coach they would stop at all of the temples instead of flying over the top.  Hope there is no wind shear, wouldn't want the flight to become a flying barbeque.

You were the first to catch the innuendo embedded in the post.  You gotta love my sarcastic nature.

Great minds think alike, except in my vision the grapes were attached to a person of dubious gender.
