Applied to healthy people,  not to infected people.

2 injections,  3 weeks apart.

About the different groups (age, sex, vulnerable) they didn't say much afaik.

Why don't you just read the news yourself?

Exactly.

10 million doses available to UK before Christmas. If true, that will really be a minor miracle.  How will being vaccinated affect quarantine rules I wonder?

Only 56 million and counting still to vaccinate.

From google

The UK population was estimated to be 66,796,807 in mid-2019.

Hi. Years since last post, but heading to Thailand (family wedding etc.) hopefully soon so trying to get all kind of info to make it happen.

When I first read about this vaccine I was happy, but after reading more I understood that this is not a cure for travelling.

What Pfizer has tested is basicly how to get rid of symptoms od COVID. They didn't tracked does vaccinated people still spread the virus.

Stock and futures market rocketed, but I have to wonder why. I don't know how Chinese and Russian vaccine works, and to be honest not

interested so much, bit this is not a game changer at all. More like a hype, unfortunately. I think Thailand won't allow us to come without

a quarantee, with this vaccine.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but from what I’ve read, they looked at how many vaccinated people tested positive to the China virus compared with those given the placebo. Since the PCR test is extremely sensitive, I would assume that people testing negative would be unlikely to be infected, and hence couldn’t spread the virus.

Long article from Nature. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2798-3

Scroll down to OUTLOOK for summary. One quote (OUTLOOK section):

"Importantly, all of the vaccine candidates that are currently in clinical trials are administered intramuscularly. Although this administration route induces strong IgG responses that are thought to protect the lower respiratory tract, unlike natural infection it does not drive the secretory IgA responses that are thought to protect the upper respiratory tract. Small amounts of IgG can also be found in the upper respiratory tract, but only in the case of very high serum titres. It is therefore conceivable—and this is supported by evidence from experiments with NHPs—that most vaccines will protect only against infection of the lower respiratory tract, and might not induce sterilizing immunity in the upper respiratory tract. This could lead to vaccines that, although protecting from symptomatic disease, might still enable transmission of the virus."

There is a word MIGHT, so there is some uncertainty. Probably works great, but not 100% sure

I am not an expert in medics, but I have read that nasal vaccines may work better than injections, but who knows in the end.

I hope that this is vaccine or some other is enough for Thai government to change tight criterias for travelling soon.

Thanks, great article, very informative. So it seems I’m wrong, on reading Pfizer’s media release, they don’t make it clear whether the vaccine greatly reduced the number of positive PCR tests, which would indicate that it was preventing upper respiratory tract infections, or if it just reduced the incidence of disease caused by lower respiratory tract infections, which seem to be responsible for the more serious symptoms.

So unfortunately my original estimate of no more travel until 2023 or later is still looking good.
