I love my condo; it's a fantastic deal for the rent I pay, but the swimming pool seems permanently out of commission.

So I'm looking for a pool where they'll let me pay to swim, whether it's at a gym, a condo, or a hotel.

Salt water and close to Pratamnak are preferred.

Hey Somnambulist if you go to the sauna on Pratamnak could you please post here if the pool is a salt water pool or not?....Thanks

If you're after salt water why not swim in the sea? With the lack of tourists and associated power boats, banana boats, jet skis and so on, it's really cleaned up a lot. I was surprised on a very calm day a week ago, when there were no waves to churn the sediment up, just how clean and clear the water is now. And when there are waves the water may not look as clean but it makes swimming much more fun.

Not in Pratumnak, but if you want to make a day or half-day of it, I can recommend these places on the Darkside:

La Picine Restaurant on Soi Khao Noi has a huge pool (suitable for laps), showers, and covered loungers which is free to use...all you have to do is order some food and/or drinks,

Dao Cafe between sois Khao Noi and Nern Plub Wan, which has a smaller "lounging" pool and deck chairs. Again, all that's required to use it is a F&B purchase. There are also an attached bar and "lying in" facilities here.

Finally, a bit further out off Soi Siam Country Club Road is the 4 Kings Pool and Sauna. This is a paid entry venue (B 160) with a pool, hot and cold plunge baths, steam room, dry sauna, and small fitness room. There is also a good inexpensive restaurant and Thai massage available here.

All these places can be found on Google Maps.

PS: There is also the roof-top pool at Mike Shopping Mall on Beach Road. I presume it's still open and I believe the cost is 50 baht.

I'm referring to the one closest to Walking Street...if a hotel now, most hotels in town allow outsiders to use the pool for a small fee or food purchase.

I could never remember which was Mike's shopping Mall and which was the Plaza! But what you say likely applies to better choices than the old Mike Hotel.

I have asked at a couple of hotels near me but they were a bit on the posh side and they said no.  I'll keep looking.  La Piscine is a bit far but looks good.  Actually, my gf's condo has a great saltwater pool but it's in Naklua, a bit far.

It is only two baht bus journeys!!

So a bit far to walk... baht buses don't bring it closer!

The Jomtien Sauna has a fantastic salt water pool.....I have been there many times......But from central Pattaya its a bit far....Its 2 baht bus rides then a moto-cy ride to get there.....

Aiyaree near the fountain where the songtaews turn down to Jomtien beach has a small gym and pool- I think it is around 1000 a month. They have a sign on the side advertising it.

I went to Aiyaree today to take a look.  It's not long enough for laps and it's only 1.1 meters deep at the shallow end; 1.6 at the deep end.  So I'll keep looking.

Your rent is low for a reason, maybe the pool will never be fixed. In your shoes, I'd rent a condo where the pool is operational. But as the girls say, up to you.

The last guy paid 15,000; I'm paying 10,000 thanks to Covid.  For 95 sq. meters, granite inlay floors, quiet neighborhood, and panoramic sea/ocean view it's still a great deal for some people.  But I plan to move next March or April when my contract ends and rents are even lower than they are now.

Yeah, that's why I am going to move.  That and being able to have a washing machine in my condo.  This condo is kind of stunning and beautiful but it has also been poorly maintained.  I can live with that, but the problem is I'm getting fat and out of shape and swimming is the one exercise that I like to do that actually gives me good results, but I usually can't be bothered to get on my scooter and go to a pool.

My gf lives in a condo development (Natureza in North Pattaya just on the Dark Side) that has a beautiful saltwater pool that no one uses during the day because it's all Thais that live there and they work.  But the rooms have got to be the tiniest one-bedroom apartments in existence.

Well spend a few hours looking through RentHub.....Condos over 40-45 sq meters don't come cheap in Pattaya.....95 sq meters for 10,000 is dirt cheap even with a non-working pool......
