DPM Prawit orders nationwide CCTV installations

BANGKOK (NNT) - Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has ordered more CCTV cameras to be installed across the country, targeting roads and border areas to prevent illegal entry.

The national CCTV system planning and managing committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan, has approved the plan to link all CCTV networks in the country by 2022.

The committee has acknowledged a report, from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which has ordered CAT Telecom to connect 350 CCTV cameras, previously running on 7 separate networks, to a central management system. This operation has been successful.

DPM Gen Prawit has urged that the plan must be carried out carefully, to ensure a seamless integration of CCTV networks, which can better help the authorities to protect the general public and suppress crimes.

He emphasized the need for cameras to be installed on roads, at border crossings and along natural borders, in order to prevent attempts to enter the country illegally.

How many cameras would that be..a few million enough? And who is going to monitor what's (not) going on?

Why not just string out electric sensors along the trails along with game cameras. Cheaper in the long run and easier to use.

The logistics for installation, maintenance, cabling/remote comms systems, power - all along the thousands of kilometres of isolated area. Not to mention deliberate sabotage by people/drug traffickers.

Prawit's talking out of his medical emergency-induced backside.

This can be accomplished quite easily and cheaply, I reckon. I am quite sure Mr. Prawit has a close friend from whom he can borrow all that equipment for free and who never expects it to be returned. You know... just like in that case with that close friend who so willingly lent him all those expensive wristwatches.

The Cameras could possibly be monitored by the same Team that sit and watch all the Cameras that dont work in Pattaya City.

They are experts in watching nothing for Hours and Days.

All this is nothing but an excuse for his real motivaton. The real motive of him and his gang is the protection of the dinosaurs in the country against the people of Thailand, by building up a China-like surveillance system.

Yes, but they will later be found not working, necessitating a committee to look into what went wrong and which scapegoat to blame.

Forget above more cameras, the vaccine will be here soon with the virus becoming another weaker seasonal strain of a respiratory virus  once we have reached immunity when enough people are vaccinated.

More emphasis on catching those illegally burning rice and sugar cane fields, issuing heavy fines through continued law enforcement, plus prison time for reoffenders would be better served and create mass revenue at the same time.

They could also do a national crack down on motorist speeding, unlicensed drivers, people driving cars and riding bikes unregistered and unroadworthy, again all revenue raising and beneficial with the proceeds going towards building more prisons, because they would certainly need to house them all ????

I know, too much to ask for, I suppose it's easier to take the easy way out, let every poison everyone with the smoke from burning crops, plus speeding drivers and those who drive vehicles not fit to be on the roads.

It did feel good for a moment, then I remembered where I was, cough, cough, to think they could employ more people in the police force and pay for it through the above while retiring the lazy force they currently have with some early pension system.

Ah, by then the commissions will have been pocketed and spent, maybe another new Richard Mille or a Rolex Daytona!

I really wonder why don't they monitor the existing cameras?

There are enough of them around.

Here in Pinklao there areat least two ponted at every Pedestrian crossing.

Since it is a law that motorists MUST give way to Pedestrians.

Why is it that NOT one motorist has been charged and fined for the numerous times I have been nearly run over?

mostly with both eyes  closed, the perfect job for  many Thais, security man at our  condo..Ive never seen him awake at  night yet.

So the camera will come first before the vaccine.  I guess it cost less to buy a camera then to burn someone.  You could always do away with the casket to reduce cost.

Pah , details always details with you ..

It's not D P Prawit's job to worry about these things .. that's for minions further downstream .. Dep' Dawg's remit is to look and sound important even if some of what he gurgitates does emanate from his back door ..

Did he dream that? That's of course needed when all soldiers have the top positions.

I do not know any other country that has so many soldiers in very important positions.

But I feel much safer now and will sleep well tonight.

The cameras will soon be used by drug traffickers to make sure that soldiers do not get a piece of the cake.

Have you ever heard of solar cells, Bluetooth and so on? But that would of course be way too difficult for them to manage.

Perhaps the Chinese friends can offer some high tech that does all that from their satellites and sends the images to Prawit?

So he can better "watch" the movements of everybody, both the living and his dead friends...
