If you read my previous posts on the subject, you would know I can't empty it because it is linked to a defunct email address. And they were zero help when I tried to communicate with them, even though I had my account number, name, and password. I've written it off, but I don't like corporate thieves.

How about setting the defunct email address up again?

In fact, even if the address is defunct, have you tried entering it and your password as the login? They don't usually send a confirmation email once you're up and running, so that might get you in to retrieve your lost $50

It was not a free email, it was coupled to an ISP for which I paid a monthly fee. In the days before gmail and hotmail became well known.

Just closed my account...no cash balance but linked to accounts and credit cards....don't want any fees coming out automatically ...have  not used in 5 years anyway.

Never had an phone number with them but when they made it mandatory I gave them my Thai Phone number, which didn't come true for some, not known by me, reason.

Tried several times and now they come up with "security issues" and that they can't confirm my Identity. And then a phone number to contact them.

The rest you know.

OK , Maybe just forget about that account than .

Maybe if you need a PPal account ,you can open a new account .

If you can't ,just change one letter in your name and/or 1 letter/digit in your email address.

Yes that's the plan, I have no more money there and cutted all the links, automatic payments already. Just wanted to log in one more time to delete the account.

Same my sentiment. Before i used Paypal for Ebay or some China based sites.

It has been ages that I have bought anything from such sites, since Lazada or Shopee and COD are so much more convenient, secure and cheaper

I ordered a part for my mates Braun electric shaver yesterday (13 December) around 1:30 pm. It was delivered today 14 December at 12:30 lunchtime. I paid COD 1021 thb.

The order said it would be delivered between 16 to 23 December.

The order to house delivery time was 23 hours and I live in rural Thailand

I know that issue - had it myself years ago, however, you could still try logging in to PP using the dead email address - if PP recognises the address, it doesn't actually matter if it is current or not  unless PP sends a confirmation Email, in which case you're no further forward, but no worse off than you are now.

That were my thoughts from the first it was mentioned. PP doesn't know if the email is not active any more, for them it is only a username

Exactly, that is how paypal should be used, and when you make a payment select the option to let your CC or bank do the exchange, so no rip off paypal exchange rates either.

I thought this option has been removed.

It is not removed, it is only made more invisible.

eBay made it very hard to avoid currency conversion when using a credit card within your PayPal account.

So, here are the steps for you guys:

1.Go to checkout
2.DO NOT CLICK ON PAYPAL. Add or select a credit card as your payment method (as if you were not going to use PayPal to pay).
3.Click on "More exchange rate options". Select the listing's currency (USD or EUR usually).
4.Select PayPal
5.Select the method of payment you want to use in your PayPal account (Exchange rate: Card issuer will determine your exchange rate should appear if everything worked correctly)

I think it's always amazing when people complain that a service is not free anymore.

PayPal is a business, what's so difficult to understand about that?

What seems difficult for your to understand is how much profit they make with billions left in accounts and with the payment fees that they charge.

Please stop being ridiculous, you might have a family ashamed of you.

Agreed. Horrible organisation. You can have the pennies I have left in my account. I don't have the time nor inclination to login to save it.

I would encourage you to sign into your PayPal account and donate those pennies to a charity.  Why give them to a big tech company?
