Unfortunately it appears that the word has gotten out that catalytic converters contain precious metals, and they have gone up in price.  https://denver.cbslocal.com/2020/12/30/catalytic-converter-thefts-denver-nextdoor/

 

That could make finding a second hand one difficult as well.  Secure you vehicle as best you can and be careful about where you go for repairs.

saw a  facebook page with a  bloke showing he has hundreds of them, many I suspect STOLEN

It happened to my sister in the UK last year. Her car was in the marina car park, as every night. She heard an angle grinder during the night, and come morning - a very noisy SLK....

What do the repair places who had your car say?

 

I know, I know, but one has to ask. 

Your Car was originally under the charge of only 1 repair shop, and they would have given you a receipt for it. They were then responsible for anything and everything to do with the repairs to your Car.

if the Car went to another shop for some repair work, they were still the responsible keeper of your Car.
