Golf quarantine in Thailand now available at six government-approved golf resorts

Bangkok, 13 January, 2021 – The Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) for COVID-19 recently announced a list of government-approved golf resorts to allow foreign golfers with advance arrangements for golfing in Thailand an opportunity to undergo a golf quarantine as an alternative local state quarantine option.

Thailand approved golf quarantine for foreign golfers in December 2020, and this list of six approved golf resorts is the result of strict audits, which include inspecting the checklist and certifying the overall standard according to the criteria.

The six government-certified golf resorts for golf quarantine in Thailand include three in Kanchanaburi: Mida Golf Club, Evergreen Hills Golf Club and Blue Star Golf Course, and one each in Nakhon Nayok: Artitaya Golf & Resort; Phetchaburi: Sawang Resort and Golf Club, and Chiang Mai: Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort.

Mida Golf Club is located west of Kanchanaburi and is a regulation par-72 course laid out over 800 acres with multiple room types available. It has a driving range, practice areas, and swimming pool.

Evergreen Hills Golf Club, also in Kanchanaburi, has a 97-room resort, clubhouse, restaurant, driving range, tennis court, and swimming pool.

Blue Star Golf Course, also in Kanchanaburi, is a par 72, 7,000-yard course with a choice of accommodation and room types, clubhouse, driving range, and practice areas.

Artitaya Golf & Resort in Nakhon Nayok offers a challenging 18-hole layout supported by the resort, golf clubhouse and restaurant.

Sawang Resort and Golf Club in Phetchaburi is an 18-hole international quality course with hotel, restaurant, driving range, swimming pool, clubhouse, and pro shop.

Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort in Chiang Mai is an 18-hole course measuring 7,329 yards from the back tees. It has a restaurant and clubhouse.

Foreign golfers wishing to visit Thailand during this time will be allowed to spend their two-week quarantine period at any of the six certified golf resorts and move around in the resort environment and also play golf, rather than just having to isolate in their rooms.

However, golfers still need to have all of their advance arrangements in good order for arrival and entry, including a visa, which can include a Single-Entry Tourist Visa (TR) or a Special Tourist Visa (STV); medical and travel insurance; and a Certificate of Entry, to name but a few.

Thailand remains a golfer’s paradise even during the COVID-19 pandemic. With fewer players on the links, it is now easier to book tee times, and the pace of play is much faster than ever with less wear and tear over the last year as well.

Golf courses in Thailand also retain their great value for money, and some now offer special quarantine packages with discounted green fees and special amenities.

It would be interesting to know which politicians/army generals/police chiefs are the owners of these golf courses ....

  • very sensible, yet another good decision by the authorities.

I wonder what the playing rates will be for the "captive" guests - and presuming no other non quarantined golfers will be playing there whilst they operate as an ASQ........

Yes, there are fewer.

I hope this works it is a great idea I would definitely book the golf quarantine.

Practice and play 36 holes a day sounds wonderful.

this is the real sheer desperation, they have tried anything and everything to bring in tourists but they didn't try to remove the basic of hurdles which are all the visa restrictions and an expensive baht

Soi 6 Yodsak quarantine is still under consideration by the local Pattaya council.

About 30 minutes ago I called Artitaya Chiang Mai as I was curious about the price.

The lady in the golf shop told me she had no idea what I was talking about and they are not involved with this ASQ promotion.

Damned that was a quick approval just this morning a politician flew the proposal for a golf quarantine scheme,  oh wait that was Deja Vue as Crossy posted in that other OP.  I wonder if the caddies will be inside a bubble as they walk with the golfers.

Most courses hire out - probably 1000 baht or so a time.

No details on ASQ packages (prices/inclusions such as transportation) as yet but for those thinking about it might be worth keeping an eye on the The Thaiest site. They appear to be one of, if not the main site for ASQ and ALSQ and will update as soon as they get the details.

This is a great alternative for those who would otherwise be doing quarantine anyway.

I’d like to know the costs. I haven’t played golf for a few years, but if the costs are within reason I’d be much happier quarantining and playing a game of golf every day rather than sitting in a hotel room.

I’m not sure how many ‘tourists this would attract’ - but as an alternative for regular quarantine, it's a good option if the ‘details’ can be intelligently handled.

That said: there is also the potential for those who’ve been vaccinated not to need quarantine at all, thus making these golf schemes a moot topic.

They all operate a new franchise "Wuhan Rent-a-bat"!

What happens to the place when someone tests positive or does golf make you impervious?

What is about the concept of the word 'quarantine' these people fail to understand? you can't be in 'quarantine' and still roam the greens have caddys and other staff around you and be allowed to walk about unhindered..

(Four Those who like to play around ) is an excellent idea

If the Staff at the Golf hotel, the Green keepers, the caddies etc all have no work they may be prepared to stay in staff accommodation onsite in a ‘quarantine bubble’ especially if it means the difference between work and no money....

I can see this working, but not if the caddies and staff etc are free to go back home at the end of the day to the nearby town and their friends and families etc

OR, a round of golf is out in isolation, while maintaining social distancing - It can still work.

Where did it say that they will walk around unhindered ? And do you need caddies to play golf? I played a few times and we never had caddies .

In fact we did not even need golf clubs, we were so bad we could have been kicking the ball and we would have done better LOL

We were talking about this yesterday while playing in Ubon.  I don't know where he got the information from; but, one of my friends read somewhere it was going to be in the neighborhood of 200,000 baht for that golf package; and, that is playing without caddies.  Knowing how Thais take every opportunity to gouge foreigners I would say that figure is probably spot on.

Given that the first week of ASQ involves being locked in your room and only then after a negative Covid test are you allowed to use the gym or sit on the rooftop or whatever for a limited time each day, it might be worth the extra cost even if you're not a golfer just to get out of doors for a few hours every day and get some exercise walking around the course.

By this I'm assuming it's the size of brown envelopes that were "strictly audited".

And some sunshine with vitamin D which is proving to help the immune system.

Me too, seems they don’t own any in Phuket..

Looks like the south has been snubbed again.

Do you need a handicap ???? great option to come back or enter ????????????

Will this be available for anyone in country wishing to get away from their wife or Gf?

So that means NOBODY else can play those courses while they are being used this way. I also note that some information is incorrect. Artitaya Chiang Mai is NOT an 18 hole course it is a 27 hole course and has been for several years now.
