Easily the worst country in the western world in regards to evacuating its citizens last year.  I was stranded in India last March/April,  when the other foreigners were getting repatriated we were sent a questionnaire about how much we are prepared to pay...the last choice was more than $5000.

This may also be linked with the current furore on the tennis players arriving for the upcoming Aussie Open tournament.

Seemingly a lot of comment from those still finding it difficult to book flights back to Australia and seeing, what they consider to be, preferential treatment to the tennis players and their support staff.

This second wave came from international flight crew who didn't have to quarantine and went shopping and dining.

And Emirates pulling the Pin, odds of election soon just tightened too!

Simon Birmingham, the acting Foreign Affairs spokesmen who cannot even get the Chinese embassy to return his calls. I laugh at the Americans and their politics but shudder to think of what we have.

The present issues with Etihad are caused by them being afraid of the UK variant. Their quarantine systems are too dumb to cope with it.

What's Etihad got to do with this thread.

As far as I know they have not cancelled any flights to Australia

Yeah my mistake. Is Emirates.

& by the sounds of it you may end up no where near your destination

So the lucky ones may have to book a domestic ticket as well

You may end up in the Northern Territory desert construction camps - But live in Sydney

Only country in the world that the Government doesn't want it citizens back. Spending tax payer dollars on repatriation flights is a waste when more cash could be allocated to that Hillsong church cult that now rules Canberra ????
