Really funny. You accuse the left wing of dishonesty and you make a dishonest post in response.

The argument at hand was not media dishonesty or fact checks, but politicians lying and being dishonest, and Im not gonna allow you or anyone else to shift the goalposts from what's being discussed when youre talking to me. You and or anyone else can just walk along to the next poster if you think im gonna let ya get away with it.

I posted a CNN link showing Osoff lying about something as horrific and toxic as his opponent campaigning with a klansman in a southern state with deep, tragic, southern history against black Americans.

This kind of thing happens day in and day out on the left and they get away with it all the time, and it leads to things like the 2020 riots and all the death and destruction that ensued.

You wanna sit around and deflect, be my guest but I won't be responding to it anymore.

Don't believe in free speech and do believe in censorship then? Who are going to be the censors? The woke left perhaps?

You only see it if it related to the left.  You ignore it if it comes from the right.  Talk about biased and living in an echo chamber.

Good point.  So who gets to be the arbiter of what's real and what's a lie?  Twitter?  Faceplant?  Amazon?  The senate?  Or a presidential commission?

Easy.  If it's on social media, ignore it.  Otherwise, use a fact checker.  And research the bias of your chosen news outlet.  Most Trump supporters put up links to really dodgy sites.  Easy to figure this out.

That's the big problem.  Many people can't figure out what's a lie and what isn't.  The attempted coup is a great example with people saying Trump told them go do the invasion.  Got it?  Lies and propaganda by elected officials.  How low the US government has gotten.

Amanda Gorman's poem at the conclusion was also worthy of the day in the sentiments it carried ..

Well done to President Biden and V P Harris the stage is theirs now to put the U S back on a righteous track ..

I've mentioned this before:
As a Brit I said to my US friend four years ago that I'd like to see Trump win - purely for the entrainment value. From that point of view I wasn't been disappointed.

Looks like Ronald McDonald  has left the building.

True that. And that is because he is a statesman. Not a man who sows only chaos and mayhem. He will be a good president. He has alot of grace, dignity, eloquence, and kindness. My only fear is that he may be too noble for what has become a very toxic office. I hope not.

It is all about the specific issues for me. I consider most national level politicians both here, and in the US, to be compromised and corrupt to some degree. It does appear that Biden is considerably less corrupt than most. That is about as far as I will go. But, for me the issue of the land, and the environment is #1. And Biden will be a big supporter of that.

There are the 125 environmental rules and safeguards that Trump weakened or rolled back in his time in office. The Tongass National Forest in Alaska was about to be opened to logging, and he also weakened the Clean Air Act and the Endangered Species Act. Fortunately, the dems have always been more friendly towards the planet, and Biden will roll back alot of the wrecking ball policies of dangerous Don. The earth is quite finite, something he does not understand, as he has likely never spent a night outdoors, in his entire sorry lifetime, nor has he ever visited a national park, for recreation. Nature is just not his style. Gilded penthouses and the White House lawn, are as close as this guy comes to nature.

America has the best National park system on the planet. The parks, forests, and recreational areas are second to none, and need to be protected. It is astonishing. I have been to dozens of these areas, and they are truly amazing. Today there are four major federal agencies that manage around 610 million acres of public land held by the U.S. government: Bureau of Land Management (BLM): 248 million acres or 10.5 percent of all land in the country. U.S. Forest Service (USFS): 193 million acres or 8.5 percent of the country.

https://www.outsideonline.com/2420177/biden-protect-environment-plan

“There’s a quiet, almost covert, effort to dismantle the public lands management infrastructure,” said Jim Lyons, who was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the Interior Department in the Obama administration. “It’s very effective. I call it evil genius.”

Hopefully, that wrecking ball policy towards the lands, is behind us. Trump literally wanted to sell them off. For a man who never has spent any time in nature, nor shown any appreciation for it, I guess that is not hard to understand.

https://www.freedomforuminstitute.org/about/faq/which-types-of-speech-are-not-protected-by-the-first-amendment/

Although different scholars view unprotected speech in different ways, there are basically nine categories:

  • Obscenity
  • Fighting words
  • Defamation (including libel and slander)
  • Child pornography
  • Perjury
  • Blackmail
  • Incitement to imminent lawless action
  • True threats
  • Solicitations to commit crimes

Some experts also would add treason, if committed verbally, to that list. Plagiarism of copyrighted material is also not protected.

Seems to limit the Democrats more than anyone else then.

Lies and misinformation are spread more by right wing sites than left wing sites.  Right wing nuts are much more violent, as proven with the invasion of the capitol which was set off by...wait...lies and misinformation!!! LOL

Problem is the censorship of free speech is getting worse rather than better.

As was proven during the invasion of the capitol, fueled by lies and propaganda, this might be a good thing.  Sadly, not everyone can handle free speech.  Especially those who fall for the conspiracy theories.  Ring a bell?

Who doesnt have free speech.

People seem to either love or hate Trump. In my 66 years as a American

I found that it doesn't matter much who is in the white house as big money/big business Really control everything.  IMHO

Well, thanks to Obamacare, 20 million more Americans now have health insurance. It would be higher but for Republican resistance in states like Florida and Texas. Tell the uninsured in those states that it makes no difference.

Did you even watch the speech?  I'd say not.  Stunning you say something like this.  He's the right man for the mess Trump left him.  It was a great speech and all about unity.  Something Trump's supporters don't seem to want or understand.

Trump put America last and himself and his band of criminals first.

Nope. Trump has been muzzled. No twitter. No Facebook. No megaphone. Silence, in Trumps case, is golden.

To stop this uncivil war, joseph should have persuaded Pelosi to drop this second impeachment debacle.  It's clear, though, he wants the uncivil war to continue.

To stop this civil war, we need to deprogram a bunch of Trump's supporters.  Especially since many still believe the election was stolen!  Not very smart....

Anyway, many of the leaders of the attempted coup are in jail, with more to follow.  And NO pardons from Trump, even though he instigated them to do so.

Love the comments from the Proud Boys.  Too funny.

‘A Total Failure’: The Proud Boys Now Mock Trump

Members of the far-right group, who were among Donald Trump’s staunchest fans, are calling him “weak” as more of them were charged for storming the U.S. Capitol.

But by this week, the group’s attitude toward Mr. Trump had changed. “Trump will go down as a total failure,” the Proud Boys said in the same Telegram channel on Monday.

Biden's Inaugural Address Draws Millions More Viewers Than Trump's (politicususa.com)

It was only twenty minutes?

It felt longer in a good way.

I'm a political junkie and it was the best inauguration speech I've ever seen.

Trump's on the other hand was the most horrific.

Biden as he inherents multiple major crises needlessly created by trump has the opportunity to be the greatest U.S  president of the modern era. Up there with FDR. Not saying he will be. His job is close to impossible. But certainly hope so!

First, we don't have free speech.  There are limits.  Second, it's up to the private companies as to what they allow on their platform.  Not the government, unless it violates the laws.

This attempted coup happened because of misinformation in social media.  Fueled by lies from politicians, amplified by right wing outlets and social media.  It needs to stop.  Sadly, some aren't smart enough to know the truth from a lie.

He has been told that multiple times but he can't or doesn't want to understand.

So one needs to drop a case against a criminal otherwise his followers are looking for trouble.

Not going to happen, start your unrest and face the consequences.

Impeach and convict him and lock up his supporters who broke the law. That will stop any pretension of a civil war. Not doing all that will risk a civil war.
