The amount of PM2.5 dust particles has been found to exceed safety standards in most parts of the country except for the South, the Air Pollution Solution Centre reported at 7am on Thursday.

Provinces where air quality has exceeded healthy standards are Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Phayao, Chiang Mai, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Tak, Phichit, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Ratchaburi, Chonburi, Rayong, Nong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Roi Et, Chaiyaphum and Nakhon Ratchasima.

The North has an average PM2.5 particulate level of 32-72 mcg/m3, the Northeast 35-108, the central and western regions 49-79, the East 38-55, the South 13-37, and Bangkok and its vicinity 50-105.

The Meteorological Department predicts that until January 26, dust is likely to accumulate and even increase in every region except for the South, which expects to continue experiencing "good" air quality.

If you take a look at the FIRMS website you will soon see the real reason for the poor air quality.

The air purifier is on in my office and at home.

Another failure for the Prayuth administration.

Nonono. If it hadn't been for Mr Prayuth, it would have been much worse.

Another great victory YAY!

A legend in his own mind...

I notice they somehow forgot Prachuap (Hua Hin) and Petchaburi (Cha-am) where it's been over 150 and in the red for the last three days 24/7 and everybody's oblivious and outside exercising!?! ???? Fit Fit...????

Spot on.....That is the key problem ......at street level you can't see any difference.....add to that the ignorance of many of us to the effects (as they are long term) plus no effective opposition forcing the government to act and you end up with some of the worst air quality in the world....this is why effective opposition is so necessary in a democracy......it is not just a case of having who the majority voted for coming to power.....you must have the "losing side" in a strong, effective position to hold the winners to account.

And what would you have expected from any other Thai government?

How did all those previous governments improve the air quality?

I bought an air purifier a couple of days ago.

It's great, I should have bought it years ago.

I bought this one and I like it.

I am not sure how it compares with other brands and models.

We've got one in every room and are wearing masks whenever outdoors. Normally not here during the burning season (December - May) but this year we had no choice due to the covid debacle. It's criminal what the locals are subjected to year after year but we love them all the same. ????

Bought an air purifier from Makro for 1090 baht! Has a PM2.5 meter but it always reads 8 ppm after 5 minutes .... not sure how good it is, but it has a filter so must work a bit. Imax.
