Thinking of fitting a front basket on the family shopping Fino.

Seems Yamaha have baskets for the FIno in other countries but not Thailand, anyway they look a bit small.

Thought I might try a basket from a "Wave" or something similar that's easily available but just wonder if it's actually possible before spending any money.

Seems it would be easy enough to mount, just undo the screws and remove the back panel to get access to the front panel for the fixing bolts and mount the basket just below the headlight.

Any Thoughts?

Headlight on a Fino is below the handlebars unlike a Wave which is at handlebar level. So a basket would impede the beam of the headlight. Honda Scoopy has the same problem.

Having had on on a Wave, nothing will stay in the basket. First bump you hit and everything will bounce out.

Put a rack on the back then you have a much broader choice of baskets.

There is a rear rack for a Finn or a Grande Filano which might be adaptable. 700B

Or get a hook fitted and hang a shopping basket from the hook.

A rack on the back would be another way, seen a few of them on other bikes.

Just thought a front basket would be a bit different, but you make a couple of valid points with the headlight and bouncing shopping

Don't talk to me about a front basket on a wave ,we are  on our 3ed Wave ,they  OK .........until you want to change the air cleaner ,you have to take the whole  lot apart ,and that includes  is the mounting frame  for the  basket ,to get at the air cleaner cover ,a <deleted> job ,

Wives granddaughter has a Fino .like as has been said ,can not see how to mount a basket.

Get a rear carrier ,have seen a good few with box on the  rear carrier ,

You can get a box installed on the back of the Fino at a dealer, but expect it to be very expensive.

You can go to one of the thousands of after market shops that sell motorcycle gear and helmets They will probably have the box as well as the bracket that attaches under the seat and extends behind the Fino,  This bracket is not optional, it is necessary for mounting the box.  They will likely install the box for a small price at most motorcycle gear shops.

If you are comfortable installing the box yourself that is probably the cheapest option.  In addition to the after market stores you can check for a luggage box/top box in the motorcycle department in stores like BigC and TescoLotus.  That way you can see what you are buying.  You can also buy from Lazada but you won't know what you bought until it is delivered.  Just remember, these boxes do NOT come with necessary bracket that attaches under the seat of the Fino.

The price for a luggage box or top box from Laza ranges from as little as 389 Bt or for more than 2,800 Bt.

The problem is that you need that bracket doesn't come with the box.  You might be able to use a bracket like this, I simply don't know.

The box itself should come with a mounting plate that attaches to the bracket that is attached under the seat of the motorcycle/motor scooter.  The box then latches onto this mounting plate.  If you unlock the box you can then remove the it if you don't want it on the motorcycle/scooter, but you will still have the bracket and mounting plate on the motorcycle/scooter.

When I had to replace the box on the back of my Honda Wave I bought a low cost one from Lazada and was able to secure the new box mounting plate to the under the seat bracket from the old box.  The low cost box I bought is just as good as the previous expensive one I had, and I expect it to last for 5 to 10 years.

We had one fitted when we first bought the fino back in 2012.

Fits below the headlight.

Works well.

Also found the hook installed below the front of the seat carries masses of plastic bags when leaving the Friday market.

That looks promising. Do you know what basket they used?

Already have the hook below front seat and another on the front panel on the screw between the two "pockets"

Got plenty of hanging space but some times a basket to keep bags away from the feet would be useful.

Asked the missus but she said she doen't know any details  except she asked the Yamaha dealer in the local shop and he ordered and fitted one.

As I say, that was over 8 years ago but I'm sure a query at your local Yamaha shop may get a similar result.

Best approach as usual is "show a photo of what you want".

Rear carrier holds more.

Some years back, someone Photoshopped the guy who started the Loei Gentlemen's Motorcycle Club into this pic, though I can't find it.  "Big Bob" was big, rode Harleys and Gold Wings.  Pretty funny.

So decided on a rear rack instead of basket,

฿690.00 from Lazada:-  https://www.lazada.co.th/products/fino-c1-i1940834348-s6147540163.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.1.3bb13219e4EMn4&search=1

Arrived within 3 days and easy to fit. Just remove the rear grab handle and mount the rack in the same holes. It looks solid but the bracket to the mounting bolts is a bit weak, but overall am satisfied it will hold the shopping.
