Thinking of getting a bit bigger pet, how much would an elephant cost? Can you even own one in Thailand? Or is it 51-49 again?

I'll ask the bloke next door.. the girl he married is turning into one.

Watch The Simpsons elephant pet episode. It contains all you need to know about looking after an elephant at your home. Bart just let his roam around the neighbourhood looking for food.

Owning one and being able to feed one are two different things! And they just love water so you need a lake in your backyard. Try a dog first you will have more fun!

Dogs fetch sticks and balls. Elephants fetch trees and small cars. Different game entirely.

Actually i would love to have that thread. Buying an elephant, would be worth following for humour at least.

Wait, you already potentially already have one if you keep feeding your GF / wife ????

You would first have to have a good relationship with your next door neighbours.

Also...  if you live in a condo, you would need to have a Ground Floor apartment!

Brilliant idea, cost you about 2 million baht, thais living all around you trying to make ends meet, plonk a elephant in your back garden, for what, have you ever visited the planet earth. ????

Buy a house next to an elephant sanctuary / entertainment park, pay the dual pricing entrance fee every day, buy a ride and a large bunch of bananas and a sack of sugar cane every day to feed your favorite, and it will STILL be cheaper than your plan.....

I thought all cranes were mobile?

Lovely animals. Many domesticated elephants are owned cooperative. Although they bond to one mahout, the whole village is involved in their care. I think this is a great idea but don't go it alone. With no tourists, one of the elephant camps may work out a loan for you. That way, you can see if it suits you.

I was sweet on an elephant once. Took her bathing in the river every day. Name was Gumlai.

you can volunteer to take care of elephants.

I have a friend who does that here in Hua Hin at the elephant sanctuary.

And yes he shoves ES and washes them.

you can buy anything in Thailand...
