He lost the plot
He's just doing what has been done before by many others, say something outlandish so that the follow up suggestions don't seem so. Of course when it's one of the, soon to be most powerful heads of state on the planet, it's a tad concerning I guess. I'm more curious as to who was in his ear originally about Greenland and now the Panama Canal. -

Mystery Body Washes Ashore at Bang Chalong Beach
Picture from responders. A fisherman was shocked to discover an unidentified male body washed up on the shores of Bang Chalong Beach in Surat Thani on the evening of 8 January. The body, which appeared to be that of a man aged under 40, was found by the fisherman who was in the area to collect shrimp. The body, bloated and emitting a foul odour, had been carried ashore by the waves. The man was wearing a long-sleeved green shirt and blue underwear, with his head only being the skull bone, with no flesh. No documents were found on the body to help identify the deceased, and there were no signs of a struggle. It is believed the man had been dead for approximately a week. The discovery was made around 18:30 when children playing on the beach alerted the fisherman to the grim find. The fisherman immediately notified the local authorities, and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to investigate. Following an initial inspection, the body was taken to Chaiya Hospital for a post-mortem examination and further identification. Chaiya Police, stated there have been no reports of any missing persons matching the description of the deceased. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. -- 2025-01-10 -

Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing into Utility Pole in Chonburi
Picture from responders. A 37-year-old man from Chaiyaphum lost his life after his motorcycle veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole on the parallel road of Motorway Route 7, Section 5, near Ban Rong Heep in Takhiantia Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. The incident occurred at around 2:30 on January 8. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre and officers from Bang Lamung Police Station were alerted and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a white Honda Scoopy motorbike, registration number from Chonburi, lying on its side by the roadside with minor damage. Nearby, the body of Mr Pornsak Thindin, 37, was discovered face down between the road and the footpath. He was critically injured and rescue workers performed CPR in an attempt to save his life, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. A passerby who discovered the scene reported that they did not witness the crash itself. They noticed the victim lying motionless on the roadside while driving past. Upon stopping to check, they received no response from the man and observed skid marks and the fallen motorcycle nearby. The witness then contacted emergency services. Police Sub-Inspector Sarasuphan Odtonsrinan of Bang Lamung Police Station documented the scene and stated that CCTV footage would be reviewed to determine the exact cause of the crash. -- 2025-01-10
