I leave all driving to Thai Mrs. Unfortunately, she is extremely forgetful about keys. Her record is 15 seconds to lose a set. She doesn’t forget where she’s going and why and remembers routes very well so it’s not that serious as far as I can tell.

We have an older vehicle with mechanical locks and a newer one with remote central locking/alarm. I’ve tried keeping spares with me but sometimes she loses my spare before finding her original. I’d thought about having a keyless wall cabinet with spares for emergency use only (break the glass tube sort of thing). Also thought of leaving key permanently in ignition. However, she has a habit of locking doors by pressing the button down and holding the handle. She would lock herself out.

Apparently on Lazada there are cheap kits to replace your ignition lock with a push button and a remote control for lock/unlock. Losing the remote unit would be same as losing a key though.

Possibly my only solution is take a chance on theft, hot wire the ignition to a start/stop switch and break all door locks so she can’t lock them either electrically or mechanically (with or without a key?)

No idea how good these are, but the principle is that you can unlock and start your car with your phone.

This device is the first one I saw; I am sure there are cheaper versions on Lazada, etc.

I bet your wife doesn't lose her phone that often.

Thank you. Will check these out. You are absolutely correct of course!

Stick a 1000b note to the key chain !!

We have a TILE stuck to our car keys...

I have a TILE card in my Wallet (which I put down in the house can can’t find it a few days later).

Works through a phone app: Lose your keys, find them from your phone (Bluetooth), plays a noise. Lose your phone, find them with the key-fob on your keys (press the button on the TILE).

I forgot to go out with my house keys too many times and was stuck trying to wake my Wife up to open the door so we got a digital door lock which opens up with my phone or a key-code.
