BANGKOK (NNT) - The Cabinet has approved a budget of Bt438.08 million to create 14 organizational quarantine (OQ) border facilities for migrant workers.

Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the facilities aim at those who cross the border illegally and human smugglers who have been arrested in seven provinces – Tak’s Mae Sot district, Chiang Rai, Ranong, Songkhla, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo and Nong Khai – including preparing field hospitals in case of a health emergency.

He said the OQ project would run from April until September. Bt52.87 million would be used for improving border police facilities to make them a proper quarantine area and another Bt385.21 million would go for prefabricated hospital field tents with 250 beds.

Anucha said the project would serve both Thais and foreign workers as the government attempts to control the spread of Covid-19.

I can see more money being syphoned away during this whole project.

More Covid concentration camps I see, good job Thailand, way to turn asylum seekers into prisoners.

I thought all was under control now.

I believe it is for those fleeing the Coup and military crackdown in Yangon, and trying to escape the country.

The look on this fellows face for internment camps says it all

I have to admit that with the Burmese Junta weilding the big stick(with China 

pretty much encouraging their actions) there will be millions of refugees soon

& almost an impossibility to stop them flooding across the border.

There are still 5=7 illegal  night flights a night from China bringing what ?

Relief supplies, I do not think so

I thought they were closing down the field hospitals?
