Sanook and other Thai media reported on the selection process for new recruits into the Thai army - and once again the focus was not on the men but the ladyboys!

Thai men aged 22-29 are up for selection according to a draw from April 1st to 20th with breaks for Chakri Day on the 6th and Songkran. Hundreds will be process nationwide each day in selection procedures.

Sanook went to Wat Bote district of Phitsanulok in the north of Thailand where all the attention was on several ladyboys the most beautiful of whom was 23 year old Naritsala or "Nong Luuk Men" (baby porcupine)

She is a model and beauty queen and was fresh from her latest success at a beauty pageant in Phrae.

She was dressed as a university student and explained that she would be unable to join the army this year as she needs to study.

She had been several times before to the draft to ask to be excused service.

She explained that she has had sex change surgery.

However she said that she saw no reason why she and others like her should not be allowed to serve in the army.

After all there were female soldiers.

She said that if she is free to serve in the future and if she is allowed to do so she will jump at the chance.

He's ignoring the fact that an applicant, or draftee, has to be female to join the army as a woman.

I don't know the answer to this, are they allowed 'officially' to change their birth gender ?

Where does it say she wants to join the Army as a woman?  The very fact that she felt the need to point out that there are female soldiers after referencing herself and people like her suggests that she sees herself as different to the female soldier.

"However she said that she saw no reason why she and others like her should not be allowed to serve in the army.  After all there were female soldiers. "

What she means is "I don't see any reason why Ladyboys shouldn't joining the Army, after all, there are female soldiers".

no.  Their ID still gives gender at birth, as does their passport.

well she (they) are going to have  a rare old time in the Military, as will their male colleagues.

The obligatory lottery is 21-30. Believe this volunteering for different ages — 18-20, 22-29 — is a new thing.

The thing is that's it's considered normal here, not so at our respective home countries, anyone got any experience from home ? I know recently that the US changed some policies but I can't really see the SAS/ SBS/Royal Marines letting in a few ladyboys ????????

I don't follow this issue closely, but for the US I would guess the issue would be more centered on born-women transing to male.

Why are they still termed "Ladyboys" if they have undergone the full surgical transition to female?

What else should they be called?

Women!

I remember reading once in the Thai press that transgender military draft call-ups are often given a medical waiver from serving due to having "unusually" large breasts (for a man).

Women don't have an Y chromosome.

Males cannot change into females.   They can have cosmetic surgery and medication but they cannot change their sex.

Well, that was his quote that he seemed to be using to justify his situation so it's not unreasonable to assume that he wants to be a woman in the army.   If he didn't, why did he turn up dressed as one?

Good for her, while not a career choice I’d make, it’s good to see she wishes to serve her country.

It is, possibly even foolish to do so, based on exactly what I wrote in my previous comment.

Joining the army (regardless of it being just for basic training and/or several years) should be done on free will only. Anyone drafted in by "force" won't be a "well functioning" soldier anyway.

A person has to have it in him/her to become a soldier, and often enough, people who really would love to join the armed forces are not drafted or are being rejected, whilst others who hate weapons, war, fighting and conflict in general, are drafted in to have a miserable year or more...

My take on this: Leave the youngsters (especially transgenders) alone and let them make their own choices! Make love, not war!

Btw. love all of the girls shown in the article and would take any of them to be my GF at any given time.

If you are studying or have other valid reasons, you can defer annually to 25.

So sign them up and enlist them with the other women.  Don't ask don't tell.  Why the charades, many LGBT men and women serve successfully in the military.

Yes you are dead right ,but in todays modern woke world you cannot say things like this any longer ,  just like you cant say that it is natural for people of the same sex should marry and have children , or a raft of other things relating to race etc ,mind you it is quite acceptable to say that white men are evil ,rapists ,who plundered the world and enslaved it , brownie points if you say that .

And as i have said many times before the usual left wing wokers have a go at me ,I could not care less if two people of the same sex want to live together ,or if a man/woman wants to look like the opposite sex, just get on with your lives and please stop going on and on about it ,just like my cousins and my nephew do .

You can't do that, they tried that in CM university halls of residence, the ladyboys still had male parts and used them on women after lockdown. Most ladyboys still have a penis, and are perfectly happy to use it.

Conscripts are useless and have a tendency under duress to shoot their superiors especially as there is no attempt to train them in transferable skills to take back into the community.  The Thai armed forces should train electricians IT technicians engineers and pilots. If they treated  their new intake as apprenticeships there would be no shortage of volunteers unlike the 4000 out of 10000 they got this year

Just attention seeking to get in the press after a short, unimportant spell as a minimal pageant winner a while ago.

She had the gender correction surgery according to the article and is now a real girl, not a real boy like Uncle Pinnochio Tu
