Jonathan Fairfield Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Video footage shows the moment a cargo ship crashed into houses alongside the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok on Saturday. Popular Post Excel Posted April 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2021 Feel sorry for those people in their homes, or rather, now out of their homes, and I suspect they will receive no compensation as no doubt like so many others their wooden shacks were built illegally on the waterfront. 4 1

Popular Post DaLa Posted April 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2021 In the late 90’s and early 2000’s I used to go on cross channel ferry booze runs. We were crossing to Calais and on entering the harbour we slowed down but due to a problem with one of the propellers couldn’t slow down enough and crashed into the pier. Luckily we hadn’t left our seats, but many people in the restaurants and on the stairways were injured. Cars on the vehicle decks were damaged and it took 5 hours for us to be off-loaded. WE went from 7mph to a dead stop and I realise now what a car accident at speed might do to your body. One laugh from it though as we were standing outside waiting to hear from the crew, a young lad of about 9 or 10 asked his father who was stood next to him ‘Dad, what have we hit?’ Father simply replied ‘France’. Footnote, when a vessel hits a stationery object apparently its called an ’allision’. 2 4
