Daily News reported that the final curtain came down on the Bangkok International Motor Show at Muang Thong Thani yesterday after a successful 12 days.

With the 10pm close still a ways off there had been 22,000 orders for cars - up 20% on last year.

This was thought to be because of deals offered by dealers and the fact that people are shunning public transport for private transport because of Covid fears.

Thirty four manufacturers of cars and motorcycles were at the show that had 1,040,000 people through the door.

Sales of electric vehicles in the first week were 50% up on last year.

The industry hopes that between 800,000 and 900,000 cars will be sold in Thailand before the end of 2021.

Think you should read most of my other TV posts about opening up as soon as possible to save economies, jobs, housing, etc. Your comments fail to understand that unless economies open up fast, then more people will die of starvation. Closed economies mean less money for charities and more deaths from starvation in the world. Thailand putting 1 million people in a building before vaccine roll outs and better testing risks more economy shutdowns and more death throughout the world , including starvation

Hybrid is the way to go. No having to plug in your car to charge the battery, and you can drive all day as

long as you gas up before the gas tank is empty.  If Thailand wiring is like Canada you will blow your fuses if

you plug your electric car in, when you have the washer or dryer running.  Plus you do not need the special tires

for hybrid cars as well.  Just a suggestion.\Geezer

Except ALL the energy is coming from the fossil fuel engine...just like a standard ICE car. Special tyres?.? You seem rather ill informed..

The starving children are far away, that's nothing that would affect us rich people (rich if we look on the global scale). Corona on the other hand, could also kill us.

Dear God, a million people inside ? In a pandemic ? Imagine if just 1 person on a booth tests positive - that would mean a huge track and trace and an increase in thai overall testing by a million

There weren't "a million people inside", they weren't all there at the same time!

"Hybrid is the way to go...you can drive all day as long as you gas up before the gas tank is empty..."

You can do that in a non-hybrid car also!

"Plus you do not need the special tires for hybrid cars..."

Special tyres are not needed for non-hybrid cars either!

1 million at the show and they want to shun public transport to travel in cars to avoid  covid 19.
