BUENG KAN (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy has visited Bueng Kan province to inspect the construction of the fifth Thailand-Laos Friendship Bridge, which will connect Thailand’s Bueng Kan province to Laos’ Bolikhamsai province.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Supattanapong Punmeechaow visited Bueng Kan province in the northeastern region of Thailand, where he inspected the construction of the new Thailand-Laos Friendship Bridge and the construction of Highway No.212 from Hor Kham to Bueng Kan.

The fifth Thailand-Laos Friendship Bridge will provide a road connection across the Mekong River between Bueng Kan province on Thailand’s side, and Bolikhamsai province on Laos’ side. The project consists of the construction of the bridge itself, as well as ground-level access and immigration facilities on both sides of the border. The construction is scheduled to be completed by January 2024.

The construction of the bridge and Highway No.212 is now ahead of schedule by 2.338%, which is more than the benchmark 1.491% for March 2021, while overall progress of all related contracts is now 5.594%.

The Deputy Prime Minister said these projects will help advance government policies, from border trade promotion, to tourism promotion, border security, and employment promotion in local communities.

Both projects are considered important aspects of transport infrastructure that can help increase the competitiveness of provinces located in the upper northeastern region of Thailand, by providing a transportation link between Thailand and Laos, with the capacity to support the growing volume of international travelers and cargo shipments.

They like to be precise in their figures on target achievement don't they.

Another option to cross is always welcome. Does anyone know where the crossing will be more accurately than just the province.

It appears they have 385 mathematicians and 3 construction workers on the job.

Well at least these figures show that TAT was not involved in any of the calculations.

It was 2.334% but since then Somchai has unloaded 20 bags of cement from his pickup and someone gave someone else an envelope which wasn't expected to be completed until next Tuesday at the earliest so now it's 2.338% ahead of schedule.

Do try to keep up.

On Google maps I think it's going to be where I've marked in red.

I'm 98.348234% certain this is the correct place.

Nearing completion, just a few more knots needed.

And it's bang-on budget.
