Any advice on coming up with the requisite paperwork to leave Europe? I'm presently in Spain, where anything other than non-essential travel is banned. I asked a university in CM about getting an Ed visa but they said they cannot help with the visa until I am in country. I'm wondering what paperwork I could present to the authorities here to justify my leaving the country - don't think it needs to be genuine, just something to show the authorities at the airport. I have an apartment in CM; is there something a lawyer could draft that would suffice? Or medical grounds?

Thanks in advance

Could the University provide proof you will be attending classes there for a long period of time.

Not sure but would proof you have the apartment leased or owned if you have a Condo?

I am not familiar with the requirements to leave Spain so I not sure what would be required.

Info for getting a certificate of entry and etc at the embassy is here.

Attending to foreign property was one valid reason used (known as the Stanley Johnson reason).

Another was for medical treatment.

First up this is most likely of little help, however very doubt this is matter for airport staff.

I realize AU has nothing to do with Spain, however au government has a requirement to exit country.

Most report success is stating long term exit. 3months +

I think you should be asking clarification from gov.

Hopefully someone traveling from Spain can post latest info.

Are you sure Spain is banning non-essential travel FROM Spain (and not only into Spain)? If you Google "España viajes no esenciales" you find Spanish gvt sources without any ban on leaving Spain. One such source urges people not to travel to places where Covid is raging (but Thailand is precisely not such a place). The UK and Belgium have an official ban on non-essential travel but they also have a list of criteria for travel to be considered essential.

There it is, an article (in Spanish) explaining the paradox of Spaniards being denied to travel domestically outside their province but being allowed to travel abroad. Unlike rogue states like Belgium, it seems Spain wanted to abide by European law with respect to travel within the EU:

There's no international travel ban on leaving Spain. Valid reasons for leaving the country are what's needed when leaving the UK alright, but not Spain.

There are perimeter closures around most of the autonomous regions (Madrid not being one of them), so you need a valid reason to travel domestically between most of the regions, but you will not be stopped flying to Thailand.
