Expect national lockdown measures to be in place after songkran through summer.

Nonsense.

No evidence whatsoever to support that wild speculation.

I imagine that you were wrong last year as well.

Yes of course it worked last year. Day after day after day of Zero cases.

The reason why, not a single test was being done.

Oh look at us, the best in the world, we have no covid cases, we keep dirty farang out.

lol. Pathetic

What a joke. Been thousands and thousands of cases in Thailand from Day 1.

While failing to implement an effective testing and tracking system, they had the temerity to call the Philippines: "the land of Covid-19". For all their faults,  Philippines politicians are  considerably more competent and certainly more honest than any of their Thai counterparts.

Anyone for herd immunity now?

Dithering never solved anything, as seen across the globe for the last 12 months

This will continue for years unless a change in direction is administered

A killer disease that you can catch without even knowing you have it? A killer disease that is obstructed by a thin piece of cloth and/or hand washing? A killer disease that is more deadly if the clock strikes 10pm? A killer disease that is more dangerous to one who frequents a bar rather than a reataurant?

A year on and people are still falling for this? Funny how all this happens at times when people are looking forward to enjoying a holiday of some kind ????‍♂️

With the reported cases now in Chiang Mai, I do not understand why Chiang Mai is not on this list yet.

A paper we cannot mention states that Chiang Mai is on the list;

The 41 provinces where all entertainment venues - bars, pubs, clubs and karaoke bars - will be closed are:

  • Bangkok
  • Ayutthaya
  • Buri Ram
  • Chachoengsao
  • Chaiyaphum
  • Chanthaburi
  • Chiang Mai

Now just close the borders & Airports.....then only it can work to control the outbreak ...as it helped before

That must be no 38 and 39. Fill in at your own convenience.

And there are no (NONE, - ZERO, - ZILCH cases on Koh Samui - none for more than 90 days on a small isolated island) yet it is on the list as it is classed as part of Surat Thani, that recently had 6 (SIX!) cases - all from a prison in  Narathiwat province, giving a total of 17 active cases.

It cant be stopped simply by shutting everything down. Everyone coming into Thailand from abroad goes into quarantine where the news reports it as "imported cases" if they show positive after 5 days of quarantine. That should never happen as everyone except Thai nationals have to have a negative test before flying  so it stands to reason this is not where the infections are coming from. Migrants travelling freely across borders ignoring or bribing their way back and forth can be the only logical reason and still nothing being done about it until there's an outbreak somewhere where they all work and  THEN its locked down. With the greatest will in the world some get through or have already left. Tighten the borders, stop corrupt officials and really lock it down coupled with a proper vaccine rollout is the only way this is ever going to be stopped...

If close down the bars and pubs then I suggest for the government employees no salary for 14 days as well as solidarity to those without job during this period????

Ah the old new variant trick. Let's scare people into accepting another lockdown. Amazed people are still  falling for this rubbish.

They left out two provinces (38 and 39). Maybe Chiang Mai is one of those....

Why Chiang Rai?

How long have you got? A century or so to spare? Or have you never been to Thailand or the region?

Close them but still let possibly infected travel all over the country?

I understand where you're coming from... I think it's a case of trying to control large groups gathering for extended periods of time in close proximity while ignoring all safety protocols.

In truth places located in Thong Lor ignored all the warnings and have now kicked off the bans again.

I guess they reserved those as a joker, which can use at the last minute

How do you define pub? Or is that the Thai translation for drinking parlour?

Many pubs serve respectable food and draught beer. Well, the latter seems to be banned anyway. But what about the food? They want to drive more people into bankruptcy and suicide?

Just because a few hi so in Thonglor had to joke with the virus

You forget - the hi so are the ones that matter...

All very true but there's more chance of managing it before it becomes completely out of control. Having seen, first hand, what happens if delay tactics are used then this can only go one way. Obviously, it's the last thing that anyone wants but this variant will rip through Thailand just like it has in every other country where it's been in general circulation. Maybe it will come to nothing but I don't have a good feeling about it. Like I've been saying for months, the whole world needs to be on a level playing field in regards to vaccines and who knows if that'll happen?

Well, it worked last year, we've been safer because of it.  But why allow tourists in while doing this?

Now exactly "how do you come to that conclusion"  If the Quarantines, Lockdowns, Masks,  Social Distancing, Airport Closures, Bar Closures, Restaurant and Entertainment Spot Closures, and unlimited amount of hand sanitizer at every store was keeping us safer, why do we have to do it again.

You are "assuming" you were "safer" with zero proof that the outcome without such controls would have been worse or the same.

For all eternity, people have caught viruses including the common cold, and the flu.  Despite decades of research and development of vaccines to prevent the flu 9% of the world's population gets the flu each and every year.  To somehow think that "this time will be different" is just a fantasy.

You face far more risk of death and serious injury venturing out on any of Thailand's roads each day.

There are to many scared old people making decisions.

The have already lived large and

for them its time for slippers and warm tea and biccies.

Having no life themselves, of course they dont care if everyone else suffers.

They simply dont want others moving around the community out of the irrational fear that they will get it and die tomorrow.

A word here and rumour in the right ear will ensure pollies introduce more bans of peoples freedoms.

There must come a point when people start to realise that living a life of a prisoner forever is not actually a life thats worth living anyway.

Maybe true As cv-19 spikes, but ultimately who knows. I also gather it may be a control thing and then the thought of telling a of Thailand and the world that they were successful in curbing road related accidents and deaths during the 7 days of carnage. My guess is they also line the control and can stop any and all protests against them this way.

The UK variant has probably been in Thailand for a while. There are multiple variants of the virus . Not every country has the scientific capability of detecting variants. The UK does , and they found that variant, which is why it’s called the UK variant. Thailand probably do not have the possibility to detect these variants ( specialized labs) . Which is why they haven’t picked it up. Same happened in EU, only when it was published in GB , did the European countries start testing for variants. One thing known is that this variant is more contagious, which is why one must not let their guard down and continue social distancing, masks, hand washing  , gel etc. No one knows if it will get worse in Thailand, but with close travel such as in buses, trams, metro etc there’s a good chance.

UK still had massive numbers of hospitalisation after they immediately locked down London etc., Thats 4 months ago bars still not open nor restaurants, no non essential shops, no hairdressers etc., No real family mixing too, This virulent & more serious virus variant happening as millions move around at this holiday time is quite frightening.  Be careful, wear  masks in busy places especially indoors...meet outdoors. Avoid crowded buses. Younger people will be asymptomatic but could spread to elders who may be most vulnerable to lung infections. Meet outside.

Lol.

Look at you cracking jokes.

Thought Mr. Big said he was not going to do this yesterday ! And then as Scritti Politti said 'Boom, there she was'.  If the yo-yoing starts at the top, there truly is no hope for this country in a pandemic.

I’m no fan of Mr Big either but under the circumstances it’s the right thing but I also think travel should be restricted before the situation gets out of hand. You only need to look at Europe's 3rd wave to see the potential.

"

Does that include large groups of people gathering for extended periods of time while waiting for a bus or a train to take them (and possibly the virus) home to their families for Songkran? How is Mr Anutin going to prevent those "gatherings" and enforce all safety protocols?

  • Popular Post

This entire second wave could have been avoided, had Prayuth and Anutin (two stunningly incompetence men) taken action early, and decisively. The army swoops in, and sets up a 1KM cordon around the seafood market area, where they found 900 cases back in December. Nobody comes or goes for 14 days. Game over. No second wave. No loss of millions of jobs. No demolition of the domestic tourism industry. No closing of bars, restaurants, clubs, etc. No need to do any of that nonsense, and disrupt millions of lives.

Instead, the whole country is made to suffer the consequences of inaction, of not locking down ground zero. It is beyond comprehension. It should have been locked down like a maximum security penitentiary.

Why did that not happen? Can I go to prison for saying it had something to do with the protests?

Nothing else makes sense. No other explanation means anything, or comes close to breaking down why this action was not decisively taken. Sure, the main market was closed. But, people were allowed to travel freely, and become super spreaders. Just incredibly dumb policy and a nearly unforgivable lack of action.

Prayuth must go. The sooner, the better. Dinosaurs get out now.

Pandemic will end when the Thai government will cease to dance under the shroud of globalists
