People aged under 30 help caused the spike in COVID-19 cases Thailand is currently experiencing.

According to Department of Disease Control (DDC) chief Dr Opas Karnkawinpong, people aged between 20-29 who have active social lives and were in contact with lots of other people sparked the latest wave of infections.

Dr Opas also  said that increasingly members of entire families are becoming infected.

Meanwhile, thansettakij.com reported the Ministry of Public Health has released details of best and worst case scenarios for the number of infections post Sonkran.

The worst case scenario would see 9,140 infections per day if entertainment venues were allowed to remain open.

This would fall to 2,996 infections per day if entertainment venues only closed in high risk provinces.

The best case scenario would see just 391 new cases per day but in order to achieve this more restrictions would need to be put in place. These would include, closing entertainment venues nationwide, prohibiting private parties and group gatherings and making people work from home.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Health warned that without any restrictions in place whatsoever, Thailand could experience as many as 28,000 new infections per day.

Well don't that beat all.  So let me get this straight, the 20 something crowd, impervious in their minds to covid, have been the ones to kick of this wave with the assistance of the Government who allowed the parties to go on at the clubs because Thais were immune and only foreigners could have Covid unless you were an older Thai and it was passed on by a migrant worker from a market area.  Did I get that right?  Tools and fools, they are the same ones shown in a video from Sakon Nakhon having a traditional Songkran splash and dance in violation of Governmental orders and will now be arrested and fined.  Beggars belief.

Next will be the UK ridiculous rules ...

So does this mean the upmarket scene in Thong Lor and their affluent regulars are not to blame?

Hi-So 20-somethings more than likely are the culprits, ministerial staff etc.

  • Popular Post

the transport minister is 59, some of his associates at krystal club were 75.

the majority of cabinet is above 60.

kids don't have a reason to lie about their whereabouts, they are single and mating is part of their growing up process. They don't get sick so their viral load is low (bar the DJ superspreader from the rooftop restaurant birthday party).

Those seniors from posh clubs are all married, now obstructing tracking and investigations

They have government ministers under thirty years of age?  I didn't know that.

There’s also this in case you missed it ....

“Japan's ambassador to Thailand, Kazuya Nashida, on Friday informed the Centre of Economic Situation Administration (CESA) that he had been diagnosed with Covid-19”

“news source revealed that Nashida had earlier admitted to a Japanese reporter that on March 25, he had been to Krystal Club Thong Lor”

Here we go, blame the people not the lack of measures to deal with the infections when they were found.

No, but it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that government ministers have, umh, informal association, with people under thirty years of age.

Not that that has any bearing upon the origins of the current spike, as we all are fully aware that no Thai, particularly from those echelons of society, would be so reckless as to engage in such behaviour!

Quite right. Gaetz's all of 'em. Obvious really. Silly of me.

Sisaket had 22 infections in this Jan-April wave as of last night - all in the last week. Before this wave it had less than a handful of infections since Jan 20. Of the 22 infections half are in the 20-29 age bracket. As best I can tell from their profiles none of them are government ministers and most of them went partying (mostly outside this province) and then returned to/came to this province just before or during Songkran.

So I agree with the observations of the CDC guys in this instance. Have your fun with the lampoons of ministerial attendance at hi-so girly bars but as far as I can see it is the ordinary young joes going about their natural inclinations to party that are mostly causing this distressing scenario around the country. How distressing will depend on whether the inexplicably and remarkably low death rate continues or not.

Very strange they don't blame the Burmese or other foreigners any longer, this must be a first for Thailand.

not correct - cause and effect

this was the effect, the cause was greedy corrupt officials letting it across the border - it had to get into the country before it could spread

Unfortunately I do not believe it came across the border, I believe it may have been brought back into the country by the Military officers that mixed with the Cambodian military folks in Myanmar during the Myanmar Juntas Military day 2 weeks ago when the genocide in Myanmar started.  Either that or the Japanese Ambassador took it to the Krystal club as he stated he did visit there before he was diagnosed.  To many variables in this mix.

Whats the bet if it does get to the quoted figure of around 30,000 cases per day thats when they will declare Thailand is open and ready for international tourists without any restrictions.

it's not a lack of vaccine, it's the young people.

Your post makes no sense, of course it must have come across the border, the only question is how!

Makes no sense? really, so you have not heard about the Military Officials visiting Myanmar along with the Cambodian Military officials, Russian Military Officials, Chinese Military Officials for the National Military Day parade which also was the start of the bombing in Myanmar.  Yes it came across the border but this is a very possible avenue.  So in your book it was impossible and makes no sense that the Cambodian Military Officials may have been carriers and infected the Thailand Military officials who brought it back and shared it unknowingly shortly thereafter.  Add in the fact that Thailand's prominent doctor has indicated the strain arose from Cambodia by it's own genomic testing.  So not a possibility in your book and you like Anutin believe that only dirty foreigners bring in the virus, Good to know and thanks.  The Japanese Ambassador has tested and been confirmed and hospitalized with Covid just prior to the Krystal clubs cluster being found, and yes he has admitted to being there.  Could be pure coincidence and he and staff picked it up there as well or it was brought in by them or someone who had contact with a Thail Military offical, maybe a minister.  But no way in your book.  We have heard of many police being infected from this cluster but nothing from anyone in the military as they deny anything just like when they denied the Naval Aircraft carrier personnel were infected from any off-duty partying.

You started your earlier post by saying you didn't believe it came across the border, subsequently you've argued that it did, which is it!

I was going on the supposition that you believed it came across the border by an illegal immigrant, nothing more and so I expounded on my belief that is all, have a good day. I also stated it could have come from the Japanese Ambassador as well.  Which meant it came from in the country.
