Today I had the appalling experience of trying to get a residence certificate.

Went the week before Songkran and waited only to be told they couldn't do it due to computer issues? MS word not working? ????

They told a few hundred others all to come back on the 19th. Covid restrictions ensue, CCSA restricts gatherings of 50 or more, but it's ok to stack as many as you can in the immigration offices?

Then we all wait in the early hours to try to get it done, to be told to come back at 14:00 to pick it up. Well then we show up at 14:00 to be told get back in line to go inside to the window. They had about 20-30 of us all stacked in front of window 9 to pick up from the AM, then they told everyone to go outside to wait finally, and brought out the lot to hand out with the numbers given in the AM. Totally unorganized chaos.

Anyway rant over. Serves me right for showing up the day after a long holiday week. As the Thais say 55555

A good old rant doesn't do us any harm at all, its what TVF if best for. Have a beer and a cuddle and you will feel fine.

I trust you're not offering same? ????????

They are still asking for 300 for one here in Phuket last I knew. The "hansum young man " working at Patong Office once demanded 1000 from me for a Resident Certificate , the scumbag.

Surprisingly, the OP wasn't complaining about the 300 Baht charge!  ????

In fairness they DO have a system. You may not like it and, yes, in Buriram you will get it on the spot (500 Baht)... but they I have a system that works for the volumes being handled at the Jomtien office.

on a positive side, I applied for a retirement extension and transfer to new passport Friday before Songkan. Was told to come back after Songkran on the 20st, which is today.

Long lines obviously because of 1 week closure. I managed to jump the line by saying I had an appointment to pick up my passport.

In and out in 3 minutes.

impressed with the service as always

You look at the list of places where they are tracking and tracing infections now in Pattaya and it's very long. And with so many asymptomatic cases around, the known venues are just the tip of the Covid iceberg. No way would I go near Immigration at the moment.

Immigration Office has actually been on that list, morning of the 9th of April I think. You could probably check on goggle if needs must.

Immigration never go after a holiday! Also never go on Monday!  I was there today in and out for bank verification in less than 5 minutes sign on ramp leading door said " if you need a resident C come back 20th "  maybe that was missed.

Anytime I need to wait long I cross over to Soi 6, and relax and get a good H ending.????

I did my 90 day at Jomtien - the day they re-opened after the holiday (Friday 16th?)  I feared the worst when I saw the tailbacks.  It was not so bad.  We were not allowed into the building but waited under a pavilion outside.  A young man collected our passports.  Everyone wore masks and were socially distanced.  The young man was excellent dashing in & out of the building, sweating profusely.  I was away within the hour.
