Between 6th and 9th of May for the Honda LPGA event staged at Siam Country Club. The event will be held behind closed doors but there will be TV coverage on PPTV and The Golf Channel.

Main attraction will be Thai starlet Patty Tavatanakit (pic below) who won the ANA Inspiration; the season's first Major; a couple of weeks ago.

Competitors normally stay at Dusit Thani hotel; no confirmation of that yet for this year.

Have to wonder if the players, caddies & officials are required to jump through all the same hoops as other foreigners wanting to come to Thailand, viz. COE letter, quarantine, US$100,000.00 Covid insurance etc.

Not sure about this. There are only 70 or so competitors, so they could; along with caddies, broadcasters and officials; stay in an isolated bubble at the same hotel.

With the Covid situation changing on an almost daily basis, I suppose cancelling the event is a possibility. I hope not.

Competitors will be en route to Singapore for the HSBC tourney, starting Thursday this week, it is the first leg of the LPGA's Asian Swing. Pattaya due next week; so fingers crossed.

Players are keen to play because places in the Olympics and Solheim Cup are very much up for grabs.

Final round of the HSBC has just started; catch it on the Golf Channel. It looks like an exciting day of golf and Thai superstar Patty Tavatanakit has got off to a flyer and lies just 4 shots off the lead after 3 holes.

All systems are go for next week in Pattaya; everyone involved will be kept in a bubble and competitors will be driven to the course every day in the same car with the same driver.

Patty had an excellent last round, with a 65 leaving her in a tie for 3rd, just 2 shots behind the winner. Great result and hopefully she can hold that good form going into this week.

Is anyone else having miniskirt and thong thoughts? If so - then you all should be ashamed of yourselves!

No spectators are allowed this year. Players are in Q bubble.

Second round has just finished and Thai Patty Thanakavit has a 3 shot lead after 2 rounds of 64 leaving her 16 under par. Her eagle 3 at the tricky 18th was the highlight.

Another Thai youngster Atthaya Thitikul is 2nd.

Catch coverage on PPTV or the Golf Channel. An exciting weekend is in prospect.

Yes Thailand is well represented in this tournament, led by Patty who is playing amazing golf. It is a shame that we cannot watch in person, but the TV coverage is great.

Yes there is TV coverage but I disagree in that coverage is pretty weak. Compared to Sky golf and CBS Sports the actual camera work is very poor and the commentators are not very good either. Honda and the Thai channels that most likely provide the cameras and operators are amateur's. Could be a lot better. I am sure Honda could afford it.

But yes, at least we can watch it.

Ariya Jutanagarn wins in dramatic fashion by one stroke from Atthaya Thittikul, Patty Takatanavit in joint third. A one hour suspension of play, due to inclement weather, as the last group made their way down the 18th added to the drama.

A great tournament and the first time a Thai has won. Back next year, hopefully in February as normal.
