Does anyone have any experience with how long the process time takes? Especially in Malaysia.

I've left this very late (had an emergency) and only uploaded my visa, passport, medical insurance certificate today. I've seen process time is up to 3 working days and the problem is I fly on Tuesday!

I will be contacting the Thai Embassy in KL tomorrow morning and asking them very nicely if they could process ASAP. What are my chances of having it processed and booking ASQ tomorrow?

I'm relying on a 24 turnaround! Hopefully they can have mercy and fast track it!

My COE application was approved in London in about, literally, an hour, back in April. However I tick numerous boxes for eligibility (PR, WP etc) so maybe that makes a difference

On a weekday in March, my CoE was approved in approx 3 hours (Doha, Qatar).

A week later I wanted to bring travel forwards by 24hrs - e-mail was responded to within an hour and CoE reissued.

Very efficient.

Thanks guys, but then how long did it take for ASQ to get confirmed / processed by the hotel?

Unfortunately I'm relying on that being done on the same day.

Book it now, then you only need to submit the paperwork on line once pre-approval is received.

Good idea. But the step by step process has ASQ booking after receipt of pre-approval....

Also if the worst happens and I have to book a later flight, I don't want to be stuck with an ASQ booking with the wrong dates... Or worse still have to pay twice ...

Book a hotel that will allow you to change dates.  That's how others appear to be doing it and the hotels seem OK with it.

I think your misunderstanding the procedure.

Most book their ASQ, Flight and obtain the required Insurance prior to even applying for pre approval of the COE. Then can immediately apply for the COE after approval.

Then arrange the Covid RT-PCR test lastly, the day before travelling.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but you'd be better to change your flight itinerary now.

Most Airlines and ASQ hotels allow changes free of charge.

It's a different process where I am, ASQ not required for pre-approval. But visa and medical insurance are.

Also I don't want to change my flights yet because there is a chance all could be approved tomorrow.

2. Submit the application for Certificate of Entry (COE) online via website https://coethailand.mfa.go.th

3. Once your application has been pre-approved, please reserve your flight tickets and ASQ hotel
Please visit http://www.hsscovid.com/ and https://www.agoda.com/quarantineth for more details.

You can not get you COE issued until you upload your ASQ docs after the pre-approval. So you should have that done and ready or your just delaying a process you waited for the last minute to do   final approval for your COE to be issued could take hours or days depending on how busy it is

You can book an ASQ on Agoda.com and get instant confirmation (also fully refundable)

(go through their ASQ portal)

Thanks for the input on this guys.... the embassy was helpful and I got everything processed today.

Proof that while we might bemoan them sometimes, as long as you present yourself well, embassies will do what they can to help.
