Buriram becomes first Thai province to penalize refusal for COVID-19 vaccine

I would say its criminal and shameful.

Why? perhaps the The government should educate the public better on the science. The China made vaccines are being administered to millions around the word, you would think the¥re would be more problems reported from the tone here. Or maybe it is just the typical subtle bigotry against anything Chinese so common among older western expatiates. It is not time for vaccine choice it is time to get shots in arms! in the following years if boosters are required we can worry about seeking our preferred  boutique vaccines.

Yes, I acknowledge my agency and privilege being able to travel and choose.

I would take any vaccine approved by government of countries I wish to visit.

Maybe we could flip this and insist if the Governor can't provide vaccinations for all those who sign up, he goes to jail until he can.

  • This is one step beyond and a massive violation of human rights     First they say no choice on vaccine now they are going to jail people that refuse   It would appear this is

  • Where you will with utmost certainty get covid.   Genius

Insanity and utterly ridiculous when vaccines are not available for all people who may need them.  Sorry sir you get to go to jail because you did not sign up to be vaccinated and you broke the law

But your honor I tried and no one would help me Said the 70 year old blind man.  To bad said the judge, its off to Klong Prem prison you go......

Fabulous solution, lock them in a prisons' system where COVID 19 is raging, who thought this one Up?

Do authorities have vicarious responsibility for those who suffer longer term effects or death from the forced vaccination?

Perhaps this decision needs to fully examined by legal experts.

Whatever happened to "Informed Consent"?

How about penalties for the government for not supplying the vaccine? Of course it's a one way street!

The Chitchopian comment to the weekend.

What a bunch of pr1kcs; wondering what Bangkok would have to say to that. Needless to say, that you all do NOT have to panic now - this will never happen as it is against the fundamental rights of human beings. But yes, it might take a while to sink into those dinosaur Phu Yai brains (or whatever is left of it) to understand. Pathetic!

What a load of crock!

What about those who had covid and recovered (the approximately 98%)? They have the same or greater (read: Chinese vaccine in particular) protection naturally as from a vaccine.

Vaccines are a way to "trick" the body into thinking it needs to make anti-bodies without actually having the sickness; therefore, those who have tested positive in the past, and are not now deceased, are protected in exactly the same way, only achieved via natural means. This is not a secret, yet why is this fact being ignored?

Very interesting question...

Another officially stamped brainwave from Anutin:

"Anutin backed Buriram for making Covid vaccines compulsory for high-risk groups with a fine of up to 40,000 baht and a jail term of up to two years."

https://twitter.com/erich_parpart/status/1393146410342649861

...

The TVF newsflash states > The northeastern province of Buriram has become the first province in Thailand to mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all individuals aged 18 and older, with possible penalties as high as two years in prison and a maximum of 60,000 Baht.

So according to that despotic Governor everyone over 18 years of age is considered a high-risk group?

What about those with contra-indications for vaccination, pregnant women, etc.

It's a massive breach of human rights and in any civilized country that Buriram governor would be degraded/removed on the spot after having made such a statement.

I assume Buriram is the test for Thailand, and the slaves obey, country gone mad

  • Popular Post

i think this is just another ridiculous statement that someone in local government has dreamed up.

For sure, they cannot do this.

But if they do..........and they do it in PKK.............bye bye Thailand.

aint nobody anywhere forcing me to take a vaccine.

and certainly not a chinese one.

Did they register first, or is this a case of some impromptu vaccination campaign?

They get a queue number and fill out a form for information.

Did any relative refuse the jab and go to jail?

Why?  There's is a pandemic.  You don't seem very familiar with Thailand.  I doubt anyone believes they'll go to jail.   Do you know the Thai word "Luh?".  It's sometimes used as the ultimate expression of total indifference.

"You could go to jail..."

Thai: "Luh."

Of course in  Gainesville, Georgia it's illegal to eat fried chicken with a knife and fork, last arrest was in 2009.

Would be surprised if they had the vaccine available for 5% of their population.

...as soon as someone gets convicted and sentenced..guess what they will be given the vaccine before going to prison.

I am afraid that our western idea of Human Rights are often at odds with the application in SE Asian countries, as well as many other countries

You fill out a form, if you don't qualify or have any reason not to be vaccinated, your not.

I once again am left wondering if this is codified law or just some government mafioso bringing damnation.

Many, probably most, demands by various uniforms are not enforceable by law as they have not been passed into law and published in the Royal Gazette. They are merely dreamed up by people who want to show how important they are and, as everyone knows, what they say will not be enforced and will be forgotten by tomorrow. Where are all these enforcers who will visit every home in the province to ensure compliance. More nonsense spouted by those in positions of 'responsibility' in the lunatic asylum that is Thailand.

On the morning news, Channel 34, I just finished watching a report being made on the Actors and Actresses as well as television media personalities taking the jab this past day.  This must be a PR news piece showing the Thai public that their superstars and favorite personalities are taking the vaccine and so they should also.

New commercial shown as well.  Man walking in the local Talad with his left sleeve rolled up showing his band aid from his vaccination has a Covid Figure smack him, and the man then knocks out Covid.  Again with the "Vaccinate and help knock out Covid"  Lots of PR being done.  That tells me that the public is not buying what the Government is trying to sell them, ergo why Burriram has made a fine and jail time a penalty it appears.

I would have thought most Thais default position is to not believe a word that this government tells them, so they'll have an uphill struggle getting them to comply...

A massive infringement of human rights by an increasingly draconian and totalitarian government.

Can you sue for human rights breaches in the human rights court?

I'm not aware of there being mandatory vaccination in Thailand. This sets a dangerous precedent.

Is any country in the world mandating vaccination?

Governor of Buriram definitely deserves 'Provincial Satrap of the Year' title.

Now no medical contra-indications matter! Only satrap's orders have power. ????

In any developed country, these provincial satraps will be sent to court immediately after declaring such nonsense. But not in Thailand - people knee down and follow (or softly ignore, on their own risk).

New word of the day please practice  "Satrap"

11 hours ago, RobMuir said:

That is correct. They will complain either way. For some it is natural instinct to just oppose anything the Thais come up with.

It is very predictable. It will happen again tomorrow, and every day.

Let’s use a comparative for the hard of understanding: You live by the sea adjacent public land and want the right ,understandably to swim in it,which is accepted. Then an official insists you swim in it daily on the pain of jail if you refuse… Get it now …?

It is absolutely ludicris. They dont even have the vaccsines. Its like every gangster in every province are making there one rules. If i could get the vaccsine i would be first in line. But Thailand is making this like a joke. The sad thing is, its not funny.
