Thailand's Cashless Leap: Ahead of the Asean Pack by 2028
I DO think the whole “digital” payment universe is here and here to stay.. it won’t go away .. it is only going to get bigger.. to me the larger question is how big and how fast will that be? That said, I think there’s a lot of fairly big “issues” that will need to get addressed before it can really be seen as a primary, long-term and viable payment option on a national basis.. but I do think there’s groundwork has been set… For example, a) system integrity/security (ie what about breaches and losses from a breach?), b) system reliability (what if the larger system goes “down”?), c) speed (you have to be able to complete an e-payment transaction at minimum in the same time - or less - as a cash based transaction), d) data privacy and integrity (how and how will all that transaction data be stored, how long and who will have access?), e) the “unbanked” (you’ll have to provide a channel for those who don’t currently have any qualified bank account, to get one) f) hardware (what about those without a suitable phone or device? and lastly g) education.. you’ll have to invest the time to educate those who are just not familiar with digital payments. -

Udon Thani bar street will any survive virus closure
I'm planning on spending two nights in Udon next week. the posts above paint a bleak picture but that was pandemic time so understandable. I'm looking for a hotel walking distance from a few restaurants and bars. What areas of the city should I be looking at? THX -

Harris Lies, Americans Die. Illegal Aliens are more Important
MAGA Republicans are now lying about the federal response to Hurricane Helene in much the same way they lied about Haitian migrants bringing chaos and disease to Springfield, Ohio. Both disinformation efforts are flat-out lies, and both are designed to demonize immigrants. Immigration was the issue Trump was so eager to run on that he demanded Republican lawmakers reject the strong border bill a bipartisan group of lawmakers had hammered out. -

Spotify Thai premium account no longer valid overseas
About 9 months ago I signed my wife and myself to Spotify Premium in Thailand using my Thai address and SCB card. We travel a lot but spend more time in Thailand than anywhere else. Arrived in UK 6 days ago to visit family and yesterday received an email from Spotify saying that 'we think your account is registered in the wrong country. Please change your payment card to one registered in the country where you are streaming'. Obviously they want me to pay UK prices and not Thai prices. I contacted their 'support' and got nowhere. Basically unless I change payment to a UK card they will cancel my Premium account in 7 days. This seems counter to their marketing which says customers can use Premium accounts overseas indefinitely. When I pointed this out, the CS assistant immediately closed the chat. Anyway, I'll let them close my Premium account and listen to Spotify using a free app called 'Xmanager'. Very difficult to have sympathy for these streaming companies when they complain about 'piracy'. -

Democrat regime censorship found unconstitutional
Another opinion truth piece from the expert in Constitutional Law! “We are living through the most dangerous anti-free speech movement in American history. We have never before faced the current alliance of government, corporate, academic and media forces aligned against free speech. A Harris-Walz administration with a supportive Congress could make this right entirely dispensable”. https://jonathanturley.org/2024/10/04/schenking-free-speech-walz-makes-the-case-for-the-most-anti-free-speech-ticket-in-history/
