VPN with manual server selection

Featured Replies

Hi I'm looking for a VPN  where I can choose a specific server from a city. For example if I choose London I want to see all servers they offer and choose the one I like.I don't want the program choose for me which server in Londons it's connecting to.Until yesterday I could do that with Cyberghost but after update to version 8.2.5 it's not possible anymore.I tried to install an older version but can't,you can download an older version but when it comes to installing Cyberghost installs automatic the latest version.

Express VPN sort of does it. Eg. They used to give three choices in London, but now only give two. Singapore two, US three. See example below. The ones with arrows next to them have more than one  server. Or click on all next to recommended to see all servers.

you need to uninstall your new version first, and re-install the old version, make sure to uncheck "Automatic update" once installed

There is no option to turn off auto update once you clicked install it is installing and it's installing not the old version but the new version and no option to turn anything on or off

Actually there are four, London, East London, Docklands  and Wembley, but I only ever use two.

Also four Germany. Three Frankfurt and one Nuremburg.

See here list of servers: https://www.expressvpn.com/vpn-server

it's an online installer, that's why. Need to get the big "offline" version if it's available.

the small "online" installer will always get the latest version, it's basically a wrapper for a web download

anyway, the issue seems to be that the service is suspending certain servers, so it's possible that the old version would still have the same issue with the limited number of servers

With "windscribe" that's possible, they also offer a free plan with a 10GB limit, ok for occasional use.

I have the same problem with CG as the OP and complained and was told the following;

"Please allow me to explain that this functionality has been removed only for the server instances in order to provide a smoother navigation and a better performance, especially on heavily populated cities, but you are still able to choose a country, streaming service, torrent country or a city to connect. The idea behind it is to get connected to the best possible server, without the need to make any effort in that. Our system (load balancer) will always take care of that and the end-users will have the best VPN experience."

The servers are still there, you just cannot select them anymore.   Just Berkshire, Manchester and London.  If you know which IP address you used to use you can try connecting/disconnecting till you get the one you want.

You can check all mullvad's server location by country and city:

I use AirVPN - less than 5 Euro per month - bases in Germany - and does not care if you torrent - just torrent in DCMA-less country. It also has 16 servers in the UK

Yeah they removed that feature of course they don't refund me.I signed up with Nord vpn they still offer a few specific servers from each country.11.95$ for a month if it's ok will get 1 year

$11/m for a VPN? sounds expensive, no free alternatives? and do you really need a VPN? it seems that a lot of people are buying those VPNs for the wrong reasons, so curious why would someone desperately need a VPN, unless to bypass Thailand government restrictions on porn websites ????
