Protest all they want if the big chief Mr Prayut says no then that`s it...he couldn`t care less about businesses wellbeing.....????

It’s the virus who couldn’t care less about businesses’ well-being. Let’s not shift blame and confuse cause and effect here because of your political agenda. Lockdowns are necessary, whether you like the government or not.

Everyone called for the vaccine rollout to be speeded up and people in the two industries to be prioritized for jabs so they can get restarted.

Exery man and his dog believes they should be prioritized.

The operators had hoped that would be June

They can hope all they want but with thousands of positive cases daily in the Bangkok area compared to the rest of the country they should be last to open anything NOT the first.

Suphapng Phreunglamphu on behalf of the beer association wants the booze ban lifted subject to continuing Covid-19 protocols

Isn't this how the 3rd wave all started... no protocols?

Most activities are open. Restaurants are open, public transport is open, the markets are open, the factories and building sites are open.  A common sense approach could be reached if those in power weren't abusing their  positions. Of course  those that don't eat out and those that specifically enjoy a drink with their meals will revel in seeing (in their view) the alcoholics suffer.  So what if the boot was on the other foot and they where having one of their life pleasures denied. What if they were forced ( by law) to consume a few beers.

I have no financial interest in any bar, restaurant or massage parlour. Our business is as far removed from that sector as you can possibly get, but last year was tough, this year is worse and those that are making and content with the decisions will be the ones most likely to have guaranteed income through this   WAIT for it....FLU Epidemic.

I won't be responding to anyone jumping on the end of that last sentence so you can save yourself  the trouble of bombarding me with your expert opinion. After 18 months of incessant television and other media coverage  I've heard it all and it's getting tiresome.

I just wonder, who on Earth is paying for all the clean-up operations needed once the clowns in green are all gone?

Each and every business will be carrying forward  their business losses in their accounts =  zero tax income. Increasing VAT will incinerate the government within seconds while the bills are piling up, be it those enormous infrastructure projects, some slimy submarine deals with China, the wiping out of the national carrier, an aging society and zero jobs for un- and poorly skilled labour.

The writing is on the wall, in capital letters ..........

Lockdowns are only in effect because of the army Muppets incompetence.

They couldn't roll out a carpet, let alone a vaccination programme and also profit from the illegal entry of migrant workers to prop up their businesses, which has caused the current wave.

Lockdowns are in effect because of the Covid pandemic and that wasn’t caused by the government, whatever you think about the government.

Says the selfish p$#@k who has some business affected by Covid and doesn’t care if people get sick, die, suffer lasting damage, or starve.

I thought Thailand was trying to attract tourists!? I could be wrong, but in my book closing massage parlors and denying people's right to drink alcohol is not going in the right direction. Anyway, as long as this government has the decency to informs tourists (before they come and spend their money here)  about those restrictions cited above then it's OK!

Have the recent lockdowns, in your opinion, improved the Covid situation in Thailand?

This isn't a lockdown it's restrictions that don't apply in many other businesses and these should be allowed to open with safety measures. Paranoia Thailand

You can call it however you like; we are talking about the same thing. Closing certain businesses and places is a partly lockdown.

There’s nothing paranoid about locking down in a pandemic. Feel free to take the next flight out.

You have more chance of contracting covid from markets than you have from small controlled open bars and restaurants.

I don't, never go into them!

Absolutely.

Right.. with the number of cases rising every day since they were implemented? ????

The current rules are drawn out of a hat by a government ran by monkeys - mostly with zero scientifical backing. Anyone supporting these buffoons must be a little "loco in the coco" themselves.
