BANGKOK (NNT) - The Society for Online News Providers (SONP) has launched a new campaign called “Save Thai 2021”, aiming to use online news channels to provide complete, accurate and reliable information to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SONP said the initiative will strive to minimize public confusion and misunderstanding and will help Thais overcome this crisis together, with reliable information and content beneficial to the public. Under the campaign, members of the SONP will set up a special page for all COVID-19 related news on their platforms.

The page will contain the latest news and updates relating to COVID-19 from all sources, including daily updates on infections in Thailand and ASEAN, as well as inoculation rates, recovery rates and death tolls, and news and updates produced by a joint editorial group, comprising editors from members of the SONP.

The members will use their websites and social media, such as Facebook pages, to maximize coverage. The news and information will also be accessible via SONP’s website at https://covid19.sonp.or.th

Joining the SONP campaign are Thairath Online, PPTV, Spring News, ThaiPBS, Delinews, Siamrath, TNN Online, AmarinTV, MGR Online, New Online, Thansetthakij, Issara News, MCOT, SMM Sport, Siam Sport, Matichon, Workpoint Today, Thai Post, Bright Today, Bangkokbiznews, Songkhla Focus, Mak Khaeng Online Udon Thani and Chiang Mai News.

Exactly, how long before this government closes it down on the grounds of national security I wonder ?  Too many facts being reported will really get this administrations heckles up.

That will certainly be different, so far no news outlets have dared post the truth, as they are scared of repercussions from you know who.

Sounds more like an effort to save the government 2021 than 'save Thai 2021' ????

You say you'll change the constitution
Well, you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well, you know
You'd better free your mind instead

But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow

"public confusion and misunderstanding" that's phrase from prayuth's tekst book.

That's never his 68k grey cells, but society's fault.

To me sounds more like an entrenched form of censorship in face of vax fiasco, which was looming on thailand since the end of the last year, when the government said, that only AZ will be available.

Since then, in the face of 3rd wave, they are trying to reverse this policy, but too late and too slow.

Their priority is greed, not public health. They have vaccinated themselves many months ago, even with pfizer (that according to taksin).

From those publications, I read only khaosod english, they are also on social media. The majority of thai mass media is army owned and controlled

Oh that's just terrific. Combine all the online sources that have been responsible for reporting misinformation into one site so that politically biased, conflicting and confusing information can be spread to an even wider audience.  Sounds like a wonderful idea ????
