webfact
Picture: Daily News The chief of the Royal Thai police has sent a check for 100,000 baht to the noodle vendor shot in Soi Bangla, Patong, Phuket by a policeman. Corporal Pornthep Charnnarong, 25, who did not know the victim prior to the shooting, admitted that he was drunk. He has been charged with attempted murder, weapons offences and temporarily removed from the service. The victim was 26 year old Arun Thongplap who has now left Vachira Hospital and is recuperating at home, reported Daily News. Picture: Daily News He is undergoing continued physiotherapy for spinal injuries sustained in the shooting. He was visited by Lt-Gen Kitrat Panpetch of Region 8 who presented the check to Arun in his bed. Kitrat promised that the suspect in the case would receive no favors, was being held without bail and that the police only cared for the well-being of the victim in this case. The check was a nice big one for the cameras and bore the name of RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk stating that it was help for Mr Arun. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-06-16 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 2

Popular Post Scott Tracy
100,000 baht and a wai, and all's well. In more litigious countries, suing the officer and police force is the way to go. And in this case, I would encourage such a route.

spidermike007
$3200 for a spinal injury, caused by a drunk cop. Oops. Did not mean to shoot you. I do not know what came over me. But, it is nice to know I truly am above the law, and that we have the power to pay you off, for 1% of what we should have given you, and you can't and won't say anything. Well, we can say something. This stinks. And most of you guys are a boil on the face of the nation.

Popular Post zoltannyc
OK - if it happens in the US it would be reported like this - the noodle vendor was under the influence brandishing a gun which was later found at the place of the crime scene and the policemen was fearful for his life and he shot the noodle vendor 10 times (the Glock 26 mag holds 10 rounds) in the back and the internal police investigation proved that the uncle of the second neighbor of the noodle vendor is drug dealer so the shooting was fully justified. 1 5 1

The story is about the young man who was shot by a rogue cop. You say he'll never recover; the reality is that you or me, or don't know yet ('don't understand' in your words) what the future will bring and I hope he has good medical attention, good support and good luck which can bring solid improvements to his health and his overall situation. However it does seem that he'll have severe problems into the future. With all respect, the story is not about you.

Rather ridiculous comment you have made, the poor man is exactly the same as me PARALYZED what part of that do you not understand? He is paralyzed, never to walk again, his life is never going to be the same again, please keep up, and stop having a go at me. Did you donate any money to help the poor man? LivinginKata
Some food for thought. On this morning's walk I discussed this case with my Thai wife. Her observation was why police force or even government responsible. It was an off duty policeman responsible. This made me ponder. Maybe my wife correct (again). The gun is not police issue. Policeman buys himself. I know this as when my nephew in law joined the police he could not afford the gun and I paid for it. Perhaps the police force have a moral obligation to compensate, sort of shamed into it. I see government compensation being the way but the fellow not likely on the Social Security scheme that would pay unemployment benefit. Wife tells me there might be a disability pension of only 1,000 baht a month. Life is tough in Thailand, and also cheap :( 1
