Anyone know how long before the Retirement Visa expires it can be renewed?

A new extension of stay (it is not a visa) application can be done up to 30 days early and 45 days at others.

30 days at Pattaya.

The standard there is 30 days. If you wish to try between 31 and 45, you'll need to make a case with travel proof, etc. and they will decide case by case, no guarantees. 

I have renewed my extension about 40 days prior to expiry at Jomtien with no questions raised by Immigration. This was 2/3 years back. That was my experience, others may have different outcomes.

It's still a good idea to come prepared with proof of the need.
