IMHO, there was more than a little bizarre irony to the guy going to Phuket to celebrate the sandbox opening on the same day (Thursday) in which Thailand...

--set a new daily record for daily COVID cases (which was then surpassed again today)

--set a new daily record for daily COVID deaths (which was then surpassed again today)

--set new daily records for COVID patients in critical condition and those on ventilators (both records which were then surpassed again today).

Guess he can always mark it down as an accomplishment that he arrived just as Thailand was burning inwards with Covid.

Vanilla Ice Cream would be better along with a Root Beer Float and a nice Hot Dog, after all we are only 2 days away from the 4th of July.

Thailand’s third wave of Covid-19 has reached its peak and should gradually decline over the next week or two, according to Disease Control Department chief

Dr Opas Karnkawinpong. On Thursday he credited the public for cooperating to control the latest outbreak, which has spawned more than 1,000 cases per day over the past week.

However, pubs, bars, parties were still adding to the daily caseload despite the government order to close entertainment venues and ban parties, he warned. People who were organising events that resulted in infections and quarantining should be punished according to the law, he added.

ooops and he's the one that advises Prayut!!!

He is either.....

A. Correct

B. Full of it

C. Privy to something we don’t know (e.g. they know they have to get creative with the numbers soon if they want to open up fully in October).

I see I wasn't the only one who found sad irony in the juxtaposition of Prayut's Phuket jaunt and the deteriorating COVID situation in Thailand.

They care not a jot.

This is what you get with a coup installed regime and sham elections. Absolutely no accountability.

There's worse to come. Enjoy.

Its B. Full of it. The article and quote was made late April.

"This is the source of the info about 4 Thai medical personnel having died from COVID since April.... a chart released by the government today."

A total shambles.

People are hiding the infections because they cannot either afford to get tested and cannot afford to spend a minimum of 14 days in a prison.

The hospitals in Bangkok are now filling up and the disaster we have all been warning about for months is now imminent.

Meanwhile video has leaked of the COVID Czar and his cronies having a lavish meal in Phuket with no masks or social distancing, sending entirely the wrong message to the population at this crucial time and aggravating tensions further.

The only question that remains is how much more irreparable damage will these buffoons cause before buildings start burning and people start getting shot? Because make no mistake that is exactly where we are headed, again.

Why is this Government hiding this feces from everyone, oh wait, out of sight out of mind I get it, yes a rhetorical question.

I think that's quite worrying - average UK death was about 83 ! (and over actual life expectancy)

Your observation would have more validity if Thailand had about 130,000 deaths.

No graphic from the government today updating the daily trends in new COVID cases for Thailand since April....  It would be an ugly chart, if they had provided one...

Instead, there's a chart showing the daily COVID case trends for Bangkok province in recent weeks since late May:

https://www.facebook.com/informationcovid19/posts/356106356007695

This is what yesterday's Thailand COVID case trends chart looked like, with my addition of the red lines showing the trends since the start of June:

As has been repeated/reposted here many times, the blue segments show the portion of cases that are self-referred such as hospital walk-ins, the yellow portion shows cases from outreach testing, and the gray portion shows prison cases. Adding the three segments together gets you the daily total.

Personally I'd say if that chart was levelled out it would be about 5% excess deaths. In Thailand that would be about 25,000 extra deaths - which appear to be missing in any Thai covid deaths.

You don't know if they are missing from the covid deaths or not, could be or they could have died from a multitude of other causes, possibly covid related, too scared or too late at a hospital.

All a bit of an unknown but it is the only figure that brings everything into perspective.

In April last year excess mortality went negative to -4% because they cancelled Songkran and there were less road deaths, at the same time excess mortality in the UK was up by 108% as the UK had yet to acknowledge covid as a cause of death.

It doesn't matter where it comes from, any single set of figures is always going to have a question mark.

Well, here it is. From Director of National Vaccine Institute: AstraZeneca has informed it will NOT be able to deliver 10 million doses per month to Thailand for July and August. SBS production capacity of AZ is 16 million per month and just 5-6 million doses will go to Thailand.

It’s hardly coming clean about the whole situation but at least it is something.

I will be amazed if even 5/6 million are actually delivered, that just sounds like the lowest figure he thought he could get away with. Even then he’s given himself a 20% cushion between lower and upper estimate.

For background, this below was the government's professed vaccine rollout plan -- 10 million doses a month of locally produced AZ vaccine for Thailand from July to November.

This rising daily totals are evidence of why this administration needs to be replaced now. They are the national emergency.

Epic failures on a regular basis now. This is a direct result of not containing the closed down construction sites, nor even making an effort to do so.

Prayuth and Anutin should not be allowed to be seen in public. And if they are seen, they should be greeted by hostile, angry, jeering crowds, screaming get out now! Resign now!
