Thai police understand the hardship - but will still prosecute pubs that open

The Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Col Krissana Pattanacharoen struck a conciliatory tone yesterday when commenting on the online campaign to defy orders not to reopen restaurants and pubs.

He said that the RTP don't want to arrest people for this. They understand the hardship that everyone is going through and don't want to add to that.

But he implored everyone to comply and reminded the public that it is both illegal to incite lawbreaking and illegal to follow.

He said it'll soon be time to reopen again and start to get back to normal. Be patient, was his overriding message.

Then in reference to reports mentioned by INN that Thong Lo pubs in Bangkok were opening he said that investigations were taking place to get to the truth of the matter.

He said the RTP would take action.

He also said that there had been ten cases of people posing as private hospital reps offering vaccine of choice (most likely Moderna) to members of the public.

The police were gathering evidence and advised the public to only deal directly with hospitals offering the vaccine.

So plod dont want to add to peoples hardship, must be some kind of joke, as they have been adding to peoples hardship for years.????????

Lest we forget that the financial hardship extends to the poor cops, unable to take brown envelopes from shuttered businesses.

Great business opportunity for the BIB as they will be able to demand thicker brown envelopes to turn a blind eye.

If the incompetence of the Covid Czar and the shambolic Health Minister, with their abysmal vaccine roll out are anything to go by, it won't be soon at all, you'll be looking at sometime next year !

The police don't make the Covid regulations.

In my area of Bangkok, they're actually taking thinner envelopes because of the difficult times and still turning a blind eye. When someone bigger from outside the area is turning up to inspect, they give the businesses advance warning.

Clearly you have not much idea about the goings on of the police here.

Or just doing your usual, having a go just for the sake of it, surely it is past time you stopped.

The RTP do not make the Covid regulations, regardless of what you think.  They enforce them.  What I said was 100% accurate, I was not having "a go", I was stating fact.

You think that it's time that I stopped posting on a public forum?  Why?  Is it because I don't always have the same opinion as you?    How do you rationalise that I should stop posting, why shouldn't it be you that stops, is it that your opinion is more valid than mine?

Would not be surprised if they was an announcement of fines review in the next few weeks

People with guns and a steady income following the orders of wealthy, elite politicians with lucrative incomes forcefully destroying the lives of those with no income with the seeming intention of putting them out of business for good - in the name of Covid.
Never let a good crisis go to waste.

True, they don't. However, their track record for honest and impartial application of existing laws is questionable at best.

“Thai police understand the hardship…”

And lest we forget that the financial hardship extends to the poor Stationery Shops that provide the brown envelopes to all those businesses that are now shuttered and not passing on to the RTP.

Such as (in the Covid context, of course)?
