BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thousands of people on the outskirts of Thailand's capital were being evacuated on Monday as firefighters battled blazes for hours after a factory explosion that killed a rescue worker and wounded 29 people, officials said.

Delta variant taking over in Bangkok, spreads to 46 other provinces

7,347 hotel bookings on Phuket in July, as 15 local COVID-19 infections logged

7,347 people have booked their hotel rooms for stays during July, as part of the Phuket “sandbox” project, which began on July 1st and enables fully vaccinated foreign tourists to enter Thailand through Phuket, without entering quarantine, according to the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today (Monday).

PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief Dr Kusak Kukiattikoon has gone public to confirm that only one person confirmed as infected with COVID-19 has been traced to have visited a Starbucks café, but he also confirmed that 24 people were being treated as “high-risk” contacts and were now under observation at a LQ (local quarantine) venue.

75 Thai workers comprise majority of the 85 new Covid-19 cases in Oddar Meanchey

The Oddar Meanchey  announced the detection of 85 new Covid-19 patients yesterday. Of the 85, 75 of them comprise Thai construction workers. There were also 15 recoveries reported.

No ‘3 day limit’ on COVID test documents for domestic visitors to Phuket

PHUKET: Phuket Vice Governor Piyapong Choowong has confirmed to The Phuket News that there is no three-day limit on COVID tests being accepted in order for domestic travellers to be able to enter Phuket by flight.

High levels of styrene found within 1km radius of chemical factory, avoidance recommended

A high level of styrene, a synthetic chemical used extensively in the manufacture of plastics, has been found in a 1km radius of the Ming Dih Chemical Company in Samut Prakan province, where a huge explosion occurred yesterday (Monday) morning, leading to a fire that took more than a day to extinguish. Returning to the site is not yet recommended, according to the Pollution Control Department.
