But don't keep more than 99% of people at home for less than 1% of at risk people. What and die of starvation? Perhaps you would have them kill themselves because of depression. Older and infirmed people need support. Your less than 1% is also inaccurate. Covid is killing 1.2% in Thailand, 2% in the USA, 2% in France, 2% globally, up to 9% in Peru. These are the people that have made great sacrifices for the young of today, and you would selfishly abandon them? You also ignore the impacts the lockdown is designed to combat. The spread, the hospitals being completely over-run and becoming ineffective, the breeding ground for mutations.... Such short sightedness....

The spread, the hospitals being completely over-run and becoming ineffective, the breeding ground for mutations.... Such short sightedness.... You are being a little melodramatic. Nobody said abandon them - just that they should be advised to stay at home, not the entire world's population! They can still get food delivery and emotional support from relatives. They could even go out for a weekly shop to get essentials, like many of us have been doing. The point is that if you are not high risk, you would not likely be a burden on the hospitals. You would get a mild illness and manage at home. The hospitals would be reserved for severe cases (which has not been the case thus far in many countries - low risk people taking up beds) Depression? Yes, I worry about the mental health of EVERYONE stuck at home, even more those out of work with depending children! Suicide has gone up during covid. You can subtract those figures from your 1.2% and tell me what percentage you get then? (and also subtract the regular normal death figures from influennza to get a baseline comparing the two viruses). I worry more about children not being able to see friends, socialize, develop normally. I worry about the mental health impacts of children more than elderly. They are now glued to their screens for e-learning 5-8 hours a day. Screen time consumption is related to depression in children among other nasty mental illnesses. And then there are the poor children whose schools have provided zero e-learning. They just get no education cos of this. Edited August 24, 20214 yr by 2009

If coming looking for boogie woogy - not worth it. So not worth it in any case.

August 27, 20214 yr Qantas/Jetstar yesterday announced no ASEAN flights until at least April 2022 they served Bangkok and Phuket prior. So that's two planeloads still not coming per day...

August 29, 20214 yr The most important thing, for numbers, is the restrictions entering Thailand. Many people think it will be back to the good old days of a 30 day exemption stamp at BBK. If Thailand are implementing restrictions on restaurants, the border control hastles are still going to be onorous going forward.

Thailand could open up tomorrow, no restrictions at all, but if the home countries of tourists require mandatory 14 day quarantine upon returning from Thailand, at their own expense, then there will be no tourists from those particular countries. It's not only the restrictions Thailand has, and has not, it's also the restrictions of the various countries of where the tourists will be coming from that will determine the tourism numbers here in the future. Once again, Thailand can not "smoke and mirrors" this one to the world. 70% to 80% of Thai's on the mainland will have to be vaccinated for other countries to allow their citizens to travel to Thailand, without quarantine or isolation upon their return home after a holiday. That's what i meant. Restrictions. 14 day quarantine etc. Most importantly the risk of getting carted off to hospital if you or someone sitting near you on the plane even tests positive.

This is what you posted: "The most important thing, for numbers, is the restrictions entering Thailand." Merely pointing out that the restrictions for entering Thailand are not necessarily the most important thing. There are also the restrictions placed on people RETURNING from Thailand. Thailand could open up, completely, no restrictions at all, tomorrow. No point, if their tourism market is from countries that require quarantine after returning from Thailand because Thailand is still seen as a high covid risk.
