PHUKET (NNT) - Phuket domestic travel restrictions for Thais and foreigners residing in Thailand to be effective from July 15, 2021.

Phuket province has implemented new entry regulations, where anyone entering the province must either carry a negative COVID-19 test certificate, be fully vaccinated or have received at least one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine at least 14 days prior to arrival.

People who are not fully vaccinated are required to present a negative RT-PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test certificate with the test conducted no more than 7 days prior to arrival.

People who are traveling from maximum and strictly controlled, or maximum controlled zones, must be fully vaccinated or have been inoculated with at least one dose of AstraZeneca vaccine for at least 14 days prior to arrival and present a negative RT-PCR or Antigen COVID-19 test certificate issued no more than 7 days prior to arrival.

For those under 18, who are not eligible for vaccination and are traveling with a parent or guardian, they must have a medical certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected, by the RT-PCR method, issued up to one month prior to travel.

Download of the “Mor Chana” tracking app is also required by the government, with the tracking system enabled at all times during the traveler’s stay in the province.

Make sure to self-screen during travel and, if it is suspected that you have contracted COVID-19, see a doctor as a matter of urgency.

If found to have falsified documents or refusal to report truthfully to the authorities, travelers will be punished according to the law.

All entrants must also stringently observe DMHTT measures.

[DMHTT = Distancing (Stay away) Mask wearing (wear masks) Hand washing (wash your hands regularly) Testing (check quickly) Tracing app use)]

The amount of effort and resource they have put into this Sandbox is incredible given the number of genuine tourists. At some point surely they have to admit it was a bad idea, or will they keep on digging? Maybe vaccinating factory workers and the elderly/vulnerable in the Bangkok and surrounding areas would have been more prudent.

They say a broken clock is right twice a day. This administration seems incapable of even lucking into a good decision.

Jeez, what took so long?

They thought it would be different, you know, because Thais are special.

They were wrong, very, very wrong.

I believe receiving 2 doses of Sinovac is "fully vaccinated" under this scheme. AZ is considered more effective so entry is allowed after only the first (of two) doses.

How do you get this..."fully vaccinated" people are allowed in, i.e., ones who have had both Sinovac jabs.

All vaccines will most likely lose effectiveness soon.

Because they are happy with a single shot of AZ, but not a single shot of Sinovac.

But, but, but they say I can travel domestically to Phuket from Bangkok if I have 1 AZ jab, please dont tell me it's unnecessary travel.....lol. They still want tourism in the face of the rest of the country going into semi-lockdowns and curfews in 10 provinces so far.  Such a disorganized and chaotic mess. Of course that's my exponential view.

I think the difference now is that it’s 1 jab of az or 2 of sinovax AND a negative test certificate. Before it was OR a negative test.

taken me a while to spot the difference from the previous notice issued in June.

Looks like they have thrown in the PCR test along with the 1 AZ shot when coming from maximum/strictly/dark dark red zones........

It appears that it is known the Chinese vaccines may not be effective and for this reason AZ vaccine administers to Phuket and Samui residents. Should not the most vulnerable be vaccinated first before residents of these islands and opening for tourists arriving from by Airlines from  high risk counties in the middle East be paused.

Gee, I wonder why they are losing this battle. Under 18 could well be carrying it with no symptoms for days prior to travel. In 1 month they could have had it and recovered from it.  Sort of like making the malls close an hour or 2 early. Ineffective.

Last year they locked down Phuket and many tourists got stuck. No way they would do that again with the sandbox.

I believe as of July 15, you will also need a negative RT-PCR test.

Endless news that brings the same conclusion that this is the land of confusion. Where the only one who is wrong is the one who points out who is wrong.

Bye bye sandbox  idea

assuming you can leave Phuket where are you going to Go ? Thailand has implemented a travel curb. Malls are closed, many business are shut down. then you have the risk to contract the virus depned on which vaccine you took.

so if you are in Phuket as a visitor best to go home after your 14 days tour.

come next year

I have thought all domestic flights phuket-bangkok are cancelled, which would limit travel from/to red zones.

People can drive though, assuming they evade the road blocks 555

The difference this time is that there aren’t “many tourists”. 555.

Not true. Many Phuket residents have been given sinovac. Far more than have received AZ.

but your second point is spot on. High risk people should have been vaccinated before worrying about opening to tourists.

Phuket  resident are not fully vaccinated. A lot of them has only one AZ shot and the next one in 16 weeks. With the delta virus rampant, they could get infected.

If these people get the virus because they did not get the 2nd shot, it will put the vaccination program into a mess.

The sandbox program is a farce knowing the the rest of the country is suffering.

That is not the way you focus of the safety of the Thai people- A program needs to be established and follows no matter how long it takes.

there is no such a thing in 120 days we are going to be good. Or next month, or 2 weeks...etc.. you cannot build a successful program like that..

it is sad ...but i it is virus against human
