Daily News reported on the opening of the three islands in Surat Thani to international tourists and all the regulations that must be followed.

These were put in place by provincial governor Wichawut Jinto in an order issued on Monday ahead of the Samui Plus Model reopening tomorrow, 15th July.

Tourists must have avoided infected places for 14 days before arrival, can only come from countries deemed safe by the CCSA, must be registered with a website that is approved, must have a Certificate of Entry, must have taken a test within 72 hours and must have 100,000 baht in Covid health insurance.

Airlines must fulfil basic health checks before letting people on planes to Samui.

Flights can only be direct to Samui from abroad or be domestic connections to flights that have come from abroad.

No other flights are allowed unless specifically approved.

Once in Samui there are further respiratory and temperature checks and tourists can only take approve transport to their hotel where they must remain for the first 7 days.

In days 8-14 of their stay they are allowed to go to other ALQ or SHA+ approved hotels in Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.

The foreign tourists must have three swab tests on the first day of arrival, day 6 or 7 and day 12 or 13.

Children under six need take only one test between days one and seven.

Why on earth would you want to put yourself through this systemic money grab as a short term traveller?

Its just mind blowing the PM is opening another Sandbox with 10,000 Covid cases a day so many provinces in lockdown and curfews and restrictions his ineptness to acquire vaccines instead doing a deal with China for the useless Sinovax vaccine purely for no other reason than greed and 18 months on less than 10% of the population vaccinated and a % of that is Sinovax, of course Phuket sandbox is a success because the truth will never get in the way of a good story

Just a quick question. Can you drink alcohol in restaurant's as Surat Thani is in a controlled province ?

Yes. Restaurants can serve alcohol but watch out for the 24th - 26th July. (Buddhist holiday)

I saw there is 12 people coming tomorrow.

The interview was funny on the morning show "Thaiger".  The lady interviewer almost coughed up her coffee whe the spokes lady gushed about 12 people coming.

On YouTube

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said 80 foreign travellers have booked Bangkok Airways seats from Bangkok to Samui between July and October this year.

This time I'm ready to believe the TAT numbers.

It gets better.

Apparently there are 11 people coming today. None of them are tourists. They are all invited guests/jounalists!    So the big Welcome Party will turn into a giant circle jerk of bureaucrats and hangers-on...
