A nurse jumped to death from the 4th floor of a hospital’s building in Nakhon Pathom where she had worked at a Covid ward. Her family said she had suffered from pandemic-related stress and anxiety. @TANMCOT

People have to put food on the table which in many cases means they have to leave the home and invariably mix with others.

If the junta is serious about getting the country back to some kind of normality they should forget about going without 3 months salary,  they should cancel the orders for two submarines and distribute the money fairly to the needy. After they have gone through those funds then each of them pool a few million from their personal wealth and distribute that.

Then get the idiot to resign, that will install some confidence in the public.

The official new COVID case numbers for Bangkok continue to show improvement, with Monday's 2,134 new case tally the lowest daily figure of the past week and the third consecutive daily decline. The current number is down about 33% from the Bangkok high of 3,191 daily cases on July 10, as the line graph below shows.

The growth in new cases that helped spur today's yet another record high new COVID case tally for Thailand of 11,784 are being reported outside of Bangkok and instead in outlying provinces, regardless of whether you believe the BKK official numbers are accurate or not.

Been waiting for them to finally publish that graph. The positivity rate for tests in Bangkok remains extremely high at 11.68%. Lots more testing needed.

At this rate of climb this week or just after should get to 500,000 total and in around a couple of wks around 500,000 in 5 months. Prayut must really be looking over his shoulder now. This should never have been allowed to happen and responsibilty must start at the top and then work down. I've always said generals run armies not countries.

Don't forget.... Fish stinks from it's head.

Question: Who is the head? ????

In the  “maximum controlled and restricted” I can go to work as normal if I can't work from home?So pretty much a soft lock of a lock down, and a red zone would be a "maximum controlled unrestricted zone"?

"not to leave their homes" but golf courses are still open.

Numbers are usually lower at the weekend as hospital deaths are reported after the weekend. Also I have noticed no security at some hospitals at the weekend due to the fact covid can't transmit at the weekend as it is a Monday to Friday virus.

Many people have wait 3 days or more for covid test results! Cant know in whitch days numbers weekend is effecting.

So China is digging itself out of the hole created by its own inefficient vaccines but digging Anutin deeper into the hole he dug for himself. Hard to argue against third shots for non-medics, if China admits it is necessary.  Too bad for Sinovac's export customers but they have made a killing anyway, selling the junk for 3 times AZ, and so have a lot of other people.  Fosun has a licence from BioNTech to distribute only in China (including HK and Taiwan), so no chance for Thailand to get any and it doesn't agree with sharing locally produced vaccines anyway.

Sorry but have to disagree about the army general comment because the highly successful UK vaccine rollout was partly organised by the British army . Brigadier Prosser worked along with the ceo of the NHS and set up over 1400 vaccination sites in one week

Haven't released June's yet but all figures can be found here:

https://www.abs.gov.au/statistics/industry/tourism-and-transport/overseas-arrivals-and-departures-australia/latest-release

Key stats

  • All arrivals to Australia for May 2021: 114,520, a monthly increase of 60,620 trips
  • All departures: 107,230, a monthly increase of 43,310 trips

For yourself not as big an issue as most (you don't need an exemption to escape Aus). You're main hassle is getting a flight in (business or first class best option to not get bumped) but once here and vaccinated you can just rock up to the airport for your flight out, plenty seats on the way out.

A little off topic but these figures are very misleading. They have been greatly inflated by the Australia - New Zealand travel bubble (which has been closed or is being closed for the two major states as they are back in lockdown).

great post, but what about outcomes and goals - surely efficacy must represent certain study goals that must be met - Each vaccine candidate needs to be evaluated for safety, immunogenicity, and protective efficacy in humans before it is licensed for use

In relation to covid, efficacy and effectiveness are commonly applied to the transmissibility of the disease. Just because these terms arne't commonly used in relation to "safety, immunogenicity and protective efficacy" doesn't mean that those concerns aren't addressed by virologists and epidemiologists. Science and semantics aren't the same thing.

Wuhan style lockdown for Bangkok considered

Dr Opart says if the new infection rate remains high, there is a possibility that a lockdown like the one Wuhan imposed may be in the cards. This lockdown would entail people staying at home, disallowing travel, and food and water being delivered to people’s homes says Dr Opart. The doctor adds that the measure will slowly intensify until the situation is under control.

who declared this rate "high"?

It's by far one of the lowest in the world even now.

You can look back at the historical data and see there has been thousands coming and going monthly even prior to the bubble opening.

If only the government could suppress the virus as efficiently as they suppress protests and freedom of expression, we would have nothing to fear.

They've mentioned the possibility of Wuhan style lockdown where they deliver food and water to the home, so be careful what you wish for!
