Popular Post webfact Posted July 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 23, 2021 By Goong Nang(GN) Pattaya – Authorities in Pattaya are encouraging people to stay at home in order to stop the spread of the Covid -19 virus. However, three main reasons for interprovincial travel are allowed and people who fall into these categories, below, are recommended to register online. Mr. Suraphong Tanomwong, the director of the Pattaya City Problems and Complaint Center (1337), told The Pattaya News, “People can register for permission to travel between provinces with three main necessary reasons which are: Providing food, medicine and others necessary items/Caregivers Medical appointments and treatments Vaccination appointments “Anyone who has these reasons to travel between provinces can register at the following link (in English) at https://covid-19.in.th/. After they finish filling in the form, they will receive a QR Qode. They can then take a screenshot to show authorities at checkpoints along with their passports or ID cards.” Suraphong continued. Popular Post bbko Posted July 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 23, 2021 While this sounds like a good protective measure I can tell you it's a dog and pony show. Over the past two days, my wife drove from Sakon Nakon to Pattaya, did the above app request and was approved. BUT in her two day travel from Issan to Pattaya didn't encounter a single police checkpoint. Its all smoke and mirrors. 11 2

Popular Post houstoniron Posted July 24, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2021 I think this "App" is intended to scare people from travelling, I got stranded in Pattaya because I could not get the required COVID test to return to Korat. I did eventually get the test and travelled back to Korat 2 days ago. When I got home, I was required to report to the Village Head Man with paperwork - passport proof of address etc. He gave me a paper and read the riot act to be that I must stay inside for 14 days. For those returning to Korat from Bangkok, I wonder how many actually do a 14 day quarantine. I am ok to do the 14 days but my family can leave the house and go to her village. Most cannot and live with multiple family members. in Korat the burden of enforcement is left to the Village Head Man. I am the only foreigner where I live, The VHM know me and when my truck is not in the house. I had to inform the VHM before I travelled and when I drove into the village I live - the security guard was aware that I was to go into strict quarantine for 14 days. I did complete the App data before but it did not have a field for date of travel. I subsequently found out that the App is only for day trip on the same day and assumes you return to your home the same day. I filled it out and got the QR code immediately. The App has now changed but still - giving a QR code immediately shows that these applications are not being reviewed by a human. It just checking the box. On my journey I was driving up toward Saraburi and passed a police check point, they were just setting up and were clearly setting up to impose the 9pm curfew. I was rather shocked at what I saw. I saw many of those buses painted with art murals on the side FULL. I thought I read that any buses that run cannot be more then 50% full. There was the normal number of trucks on the road and many Ford Rangers and the like. Frankly it was like a normal day. It is practically impossible to check every vehicle travel on the highway from Bangkok to the NE I fully understand the request for people not to travel across Provincial boundaries but the reality is that is just not practical - there are not enough police to staff check points. The road are full of freight trucks that carry all kinds of freight all over the NE, the police cannot have check points of these vehicle I really don't know what the answer is to reduce or stop inter provincial travel, I suspect the country will have to live with this situation. 1 2

Yes...putting such "propaganda" out there en masse makes many/most sheeple apprehensive enough not to try. Works quite well without really doing much or anything. 2
law ling Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 I've a trip (PTY-BKK) coming up for #3 "vax appointment" - but I'm not sure about my taxi driver ... will he be covered by #1 "caregiver"? ... maybe.

It's been up for about three weeks and I've seen it manned twice. However they did set up an impromptu checkpoint about 7km from the Lamphun City cutoff at Doi Tii that was manned yesterday. Overall it doesn't inspire confidence. It's really up to the villages to protect themselves which in the case of our village they do. Anyone showing up from a Red zone with the intention of staying goes into home quarantine. Edited July 24, 2021 by connda 1 1

JupiterRising Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 Wow. So many people posting here that are reporting their movements across the country, when it is clear that the government is telling people not to do it. People traveling are just in positions to potentially spread the virus further. But expats are different from everybody else and can do what they want. I forgot, sorry. 2

Most cars on the road are driven by Thais, so not sure what point you're trying to make.

The 7 Motorway is currently operating without checks, and so far it doesn't seem that there are any at either end. If that changes, hopefully it will be reported here. 1

My wife is in Bangkok and needs to return to Pattaya on Monday, that's why I asked. She already has a taxi lined up, the same one that brought her to Bangkok a few weeks ago. The taxi driver seems to think there won't be a problem, but I'm just checking.
IAMHERE Posted July 24, 2021 Posted July 24, 2021 These measures were put in place to stop/slow down the first wave. Lessen the impact of the first wave so there is time to prepare for the 2nd wave. The first wave was stopped so well that that has now become the response to all further waves. Well folks, those waves are gonna keep on keeping on.

To be safe, register on the website and get a QR code. But unless something changes in the next few days, I doubt there will be any problems.
